Business Insider is for people who are driven, optimistic and always looking forward. Our mission is to inspire action through thought-provoking stories. We tell our audience what they want and need to know to improve their lives and the world with storytelling that is accessible, smart, sometimes unexpected, and always helpful. The Role & Team:

As the Senior Director of Creative Strategy, you will be the most senior creative on the team, shaping Business Insider’s biggest and boldest commercial programs. You will lead and mentor a high-performing team of creative strategists day-to-day, instilling a culture of elite brand storytelling.

This is a dynamic "player-coach" leadership position designed for a visionary storyteller who loves to mentor a team and is equally thrilled to roll up their sleeves, command client pitches, and architect Business Insider’s most exciting commercial ideas.

The Senior Director of Creative Strategy reports directly to the VP of Creative Strategy & Studios and sits with the Advertising department. This position is based in our New York City HQ with an in-office presence of at least 2–3 days per week.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead Big Idea Development and Pitch Excellence
  • Act as the primary creative architect behind Business Insider’s largest, most compelling commercial concepts.
  • Serve as the leading creative voice in the room for major advertising opportunities. Lead brainstorms, proposals, and marquee client meetings, confidently pitching and commanding the room to close strategic deals.
  • Build high-impact presentations that integrate editorial IP, branded content, events, video, data, and media into unified, client-ready narratives.
  • Develop storytelling frameworks and ideation tools to upskill the Creative Strategy Team and ensure consistent, world-class responses to opportunities.
Lead Strategic Client Partnerships and Proactive Growth
  • Build a proactive, forward-looking partnership strategy that unlocks larger deals with our biggest, priority accounts.
  • Refine the proactive marketing function to spot market whitespace, surfacing innovative ideas outside of traditional RFP cycles to deliver programs that differentiate BI.
Editorial Collaboration & IP Monetization
  • Partner closely with the Newsroom to translate Business Insider's award-winning editorial IP and franchises into high-value, market-moving commercial opportunities.
  • Manage a collaborative, cross-functional framework between Advertising and Editorial to co-create ambitious, large-scale commercial programs, tentpoles, and multimedia packages.
  • Oversee and guide the team on the framing, positioning, and go-to-market materials for new editorial and product launches and core revenue-driving ad products.

  • Serve as a forward-thinking leader to guide, define, and help roll out Business Insider’s developing AI creative workflows.
  • Invest in team growth through mentorship and creative training.

  • Proven track record of conceptualizing and winning large-scale commercial programs across digital media platforms.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing creative or marketing team, with a track record of developing talent and building a strong, collaborative culture.
  • Exceptional client presence with a demonstrated ability to command a room, pitch high-stakes ideas, and interface confidently with executives.
  • A "player-coach" mentality—you love leading and growing a team, but you are equally energized by rolling up your sleeves to build pitches and invent big ideas, with a willingness to jump in and support the team as needed.
  • Industry knowledge of the current digital advertising landscape, with a sharp instinct for what premium brands are buying, what types of content resonate with audiences, and how to effectively position and sell multi-platform media programs.
  • Advanced presentation skills with fluency in Canva, PowerPoint, and Google Slides and a proven ability to build and guide the creation of beautiful, highly compelling pitch presentations.
  • Strategic fluency in brand storytelling, multimedia packaging (video, live events, digital editorial), and data-driven content marketing.
  • Experience integrating AI tools into marketing and pitch workflows to optimize efficiency.
