CAMBA’s Department of Strategic Partnerships cultivates relationships with funders, stakeholders, and community members to support CAMBA’s growth and high-quality programming. The Department includes Development, Institutional Giving, and Marketing & Communications.

Position: Senior Director of Institutional Giving

Reports To: SVP, Development & Communications

Location: 1720 Church Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11226/ Hybrid Remote

What The Senior Director of Institutional Giving Does:

Grant Management & Team Leadership:

  • In collaboration with the Senior Vice President, sets priorities, goals and grant revenue projections for the institutional giving program
  • Handles all stages of the grant cycles for a portfolio of programs, which includes development of Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), proposals and reports for public and private funders
  • Liaise between Program staff and Grant Writers, developing a strategy for fundraising priorities and approving requests from Program staff for new grant applications across all CAMBA programs
  • Supervise two grant writers with specific portfolios and provides support as needed.
  • Review grant variance reports for private grants on a quarterly basis and provide summaries to Senior Vice President (SVP.)
  • Refines and manages all grant-making processes, including grant policies, systems and documentation.
  • Implement systems to communicate information about new grants across divisions and ensure consistent application of best practices. This will include implementation of a system for communicating information about new grants to staff across divisions. Incorporate best practices and ensures excellent controls.
  • Oversee transition of grant tracking information into Blackbaud NXT system, ensuring smooth integration and management.
  • In partnership with the Senior Vice President (SVP), serves as liaison to funders, including answering inquiries and managing site visits.
  • Encourage a culture across the organization that prioritizes sustainable funding, diversification of funding streams, and consistent achievement of programmatic and financial commitments to funders.

Grant & Portfolio Management

  • Partners with Program Managers and the DARE Team (Data Analysis Research & Evaluation) to create compelling grant requests and related outcomes to be tracked by the DARE Team for reporting and renewal requests.
  • Ensures all reporting requirements are communicated to appropriate staff and monitors progress to ensure goals are met prior to the submission of final reports.
  • Supports the Fiscal grant budget estimate process. Provides timelines for budget deadlines, as well as grant reporting dates to include final spend-down.
  • Ensures grant tracking system and calendar is regularly updated using Raiser’s Edge Moves Management platform.
  • Oversees research and identification of new funding opportunities and foundation and corporate foundation prospects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated success as a grant writer in a mid-sized (500+ employees) organization.
  • Two (2) years of experience managing a team with direct reports or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication, and interpersonal
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Able to synthesize data and information into one compelling voice and story.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Enjoys working independently and as part of a team.

Other Requirements:

  • Familiar with public (NYC, NYS and federal) and private grants and contracts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled at working across multiple teams and with staff of varying levels of seniority, including executives, to produce timely and high-quality deliverables
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required

Compensation: $105,000-$115,000 annually
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
