Job Summary
Freewheel is seeking a Senior Product Design Director based in New York City to lead an experienced global design team, as well as the vision, execution and delivery of all product design-related activity, services and touchpoints that power the global Freewheel platform. We are looking to drive innovation and inspiration in what we do and how we do it - from micro-interactions to immersive multi-product projects to those little touches and thoughts that make something look good and work great. Ultimately, this role will be instrumental in building great processes, capabilities and immersive, highly engaging experiences that delight our clients, users and stakeholders around the globe. The role demands leadership across creative, operations and management of our design team and its output.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
You will oversee the whole design function: visual styling, service and user experience research, and design. You will be building and leading a team accountable for designing usable, valuable, and viable product solutions meeting the joint objectives of the user and business needs.
What you'll do:

  • Lead, manage, hire, onboard, and mentor an exceptional product design team that consistently delivers on projects and is well-balanced across a range of design skillsets
  • Define budgets, allocation, and prioritisation of resources
  • Create a viable, thriving community to empower skills development and grow designer satisfaction
  • Use your deep expertise in user, visual and experience design to provide advice and direction to the design team
  • Drive design and user experience vision and strategy to deliver a world-class experience across all products and user journeys
  • Understand product and business objectives, identify gaps and unmet or latent needs via quantitative and qualitative research
  • Implement research processes and frameworks for tracking success metrics
  • Build business cases for innovation and usage of new tools, define business, user and designer KPIs, pilot tests, and scale processes
  • Manage and prioritise the design backlog, working with product and engineering to ensure design activity supports the product delivery roadmap and go-to-market programs
  • Provide quality control over design outputs and production
  • Champion design thinking at Freewheel, develop a world-class design team and support wider teams with design thinking practices
  • Advocate a user experience centred mindset across the organisation, drive and embed a culture of experimentation and innovation
  • Develop and own the design strategy for the overall platform experience across a portfolio of products
  • Lead and help shape the product roadmap, both short and long-term, and be an advocate for user-centric design
  • Be responsible for measuring the success, KPIs, tracking performance and design impact

  • Proven experience of UCD design principles and methodologies
  • Proven understanding of UCD, human interface guidelines, standards, and best practices as they apply to various platforms and devices
  • Experience in running qualitative user research, quantitative analytics metrics independently or via specialists to aid insight-driven design
  • Strong background in gathering business requirements and translating sometimes competing business objectives into designs that meet user needs
  • Proficient understanding of the latest tools and applications such as Figma, Microsoft Office, Confluence, Jira and Adobe Creative Suite
  • A keen eye for maintaining consistency of brand guidelines, principles, systems, and assets
  • Experience in running discovery & design workshops, helping drive alignment and innovation through experiences we deliver
  • A proactive, self-driven individual that has an equally strong team ethos
  • Help drive our creative culture by being a highly visible advocate for all things design
  • Experience in collaborating with design and development teams to create new experiences and evolve patterns
  • Working closely with the design team to ensure visibility and provide input into group design critiques
  • Subject matter expertise in product design, with a proven track record of building successful innovative and scalable products - vision, strategy and roadmap, KPIs/objectives setting, ideation and implementation process, team alignment with business goals
  • A portfolio that highlights deep interaction and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of complex workflows designed to scale across diverse, global operations teams
  • Experience working with remote, international teams
  • Experience working with complex internal systems and highly technical API environments
  • Experience contributing to and consuming component-based design systems
  • Excellent communication skills

Salary:
Primary Location Pay Range: $199,490.44 - $299,235.66
Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
