Job Description

We’re looking for a Product Compliance and Risk Manager with a specialisation in financial crime to join our APAC Wise Platform team. This is a high impact, strategic role designed to move our financial crime framework beyond global baselines, deeply localising and scaling our products across APAC. This is a first line Product Compliance role, embedded in the APAC and Wise Platform Squad. You will not be managing operational alerts; instead, you will design systemic product controls that prevent financial crime at scale. Your scope includes:

Financial crime regulatory and control assessments

  • Own the WP control framework: Move our product compliance assessments from generic global baselines to bespoke, market-specific frameworks.

  • Rigorous rule testing: Execute rigorous testing of financial crime methodology and rules to verify that they are working appropriately, designing new controls where required.

  • Retrospective and future-proofing: Lead deep-dive retrospectives on existing live products and partnerships while similarly setting up compliant compliance foundations for new products prior to launch.

Regional localisation and global alignment

  • APAC smart localisation: Specifically assess how global financial crime controls land in APAC. You will ensure local nuances, partner expectations, and regional regulations are deeply embedded into the core global WP framework.

  • Global voice: Act as the primary advocate for APAC Wise Platform Product Compliance within global infrastructure teams, ensuring regional risks are prioritised.

Strategic issue management and remediation

  • Proactive gap management: Identify, scope and resolve known and unknown gaps across our retail offering and specialised WP product solutions.

  • Risk-based prioritisation and resolution: Apply your financial crime and regulatory expertise to determine high impact issues to resolve on a timely basis.

Product, engineering and partner negotiation

  • Commercial enablement: Unblock our commercial and sales teams by applying a pragmatic, risk-based approach to institutional partner solutions.

  • Control design: Collaborate with global and regional Product and Engineering teams to translate regulatory needs into market-specific, technical product requirements.

Qualifications

A bit more about you:

  • A minimum of 6 years relevant experience in financial crime compliance within a financial technology company; added bonus if focused on correspondent banking, remittance, financial services partnerships across APAC markets.

  • Proven track record of mapping controls to a library, executing rule testing, and running technical gap analyses.

  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them effectively.

  • Problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation together with data to drive business decisions.

  • A natural owner that drives and delivers projects to completion proactively, timely and with attention to the details.

  • A team player with a collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders such as Product, Commercial teams and Compliance.

  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate and provide practical, actionable, and value added recommendations.
