Katmai Tech Inc. is a fast growing, innovative software development company with an exciting new product. Katmai is an immersive video conferencing platform that reimagines remote work, gaming, and human connection. 

We are growing and are seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the team to help architect and build the next  generation of remote work experience.  Successful candidates will have experience building and architecting software for growth while promoting coding best practices. In this role you will build interactive web-based 3D, video, and audio applications.

You will help drive team standards for frontend code and UI quality and guide a long term strategy for how to push browsers to their limits.

We are a fully remote team and work inside of our Katmai Virtual Office product.

Qualifications

Technical Skill

• You have an in-depth knowledge of a major frontend framework (React, Vue, ...), and a breadth of experience choosing and using appropriate libraries
• You can easily navigate the constantly shifting frontend ecosystem to continuously assess development needs against available tools
• Any experience with web-based 3D, audio, and video is preferred
• Have you built a game engine? We want you!
• Experience with Vue and Node.js is a plus

Productivity

• You have articulable debugging strategies that lead you to create minimal examples, and find a solution without flailing
• You require minimal direction and oversight to complete routine tasks
• You are comfortable with visual design & rapid prototyping.

Communication

• Examples of collaboration across teams, and contributions to knowledge bases
• Demonstrated experience with process improvements / best practices.
• Collaborate closely with Product and UX Design to overcome sophisticated challenges with innovative technical solutions for business and operational objectives.

Leadership

• Proven track record of technical leadership
• You can provide specific, constructive feedback for code, design, and architectural reviews
• The ability to mentor engineers, both junior and senior.
• Can establish direction for the team and help guide engineering vision.

Impact

• Demonstrated experience building large scale projects / features.
• Solid understanding of the entire life cycle development process (SDLC)
• Able to architect important systems and anticipate strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning.
• Can participate in on-call escalations to troubleshoot customer facing issues

Team Description

Katmai engineers wear many hats, and work across a large swath of the stack. Our primary focus is to build a cross platform engine compatible across browsers and various hardware, designing a powerful UI, and making sure everything scales with our user growth.

Our frontend is TypeScript + Vue, with TypeScript + Node.js running our servers, backed by a Postgres database.
