About GameChanger:
We believe in the life-changing impact youth sports have on and off the field because they encourage leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence—important life lessons that have the power to propel our youth toward meaningful futures. We recognize that without coaches, parents, and volunteers, organized youth sports could not exist. By building the first and best place to experience the youth sports moments important to our community, we are helping families elevate the next generation through youth sports.
So if you love sports and their community-building potential, or building cool products is your sport, GameChanger is the team for you. We are a remote-first, dynamic tech company based in New York City, and we are solving some of the biggest challenges in youth sports today.
The Position:
At GameChanger, the goal of the Basketball team is to deliver the best possible scoring, stats, and viewing experience for the coaches, parents, and fans of youth basketball. We build features that help coaches capture every possession, analyze performance, and teach their players, while giving families a way to follow the game no matter where they are.
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you'll lead the design and delivery of features that bring basketball to life across our web and backend platforms. You'll own the quality and scalability of the systems that power live game scoring, stats, and other post-game experience features, and you'll help shape how the sport is represented in GameChanger. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, and fellow engineers, and you will report to our Basketball Engineering Manager.
What You’ll Do:
Build and improve backend services and APIs that support basketball scorekeeping, stats, and postgame experiences.
Extend existing endpoints and systems to support new product capabilities, including postgame editing.
Develop web features that make basketball box scores and stats accessible to coaches, families, and fans.
Own technical design and delivery for your projects, making architectural decisions that fit our existing systems and product needs.
Partner with mobile engineers to deliver backend capabilities that support iOS and Android experiences.
Collaborate with product, design, and engineers on the other Hoops team, Stats & Insights, and Gameday to deliver features across teams.
Write well-tested, maintainable code and improve the reliability and performance of the systems you work on.
Share technical knowledge through code reviews and mentorship, and contribute patterns and tools that help engineers work effectively.
Who You Are:
Experience delivering backend services and APIs in production, with a strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals.
A track record of building applications with TypeScript and Node.js, plus experience developing web features with React.
Experience extending existing systems and writing scalable, performant code, with particular depth in backend development.
Ability to independently design technical solutions and lead projects from requirements through implementation and release.
Experience collaborating with product, design, and engineers across teams, including mentoring peers and contributing to technical decisions.
Interest in sports and the products that support them. Familiarity with basketball, scorekeeping, or sports statistics is a plus.
Perks:
