Filevine is forging the future of legal work with cloud-based workflow tools. Our success has catapulted Filevine to the forefront of our field—we are ranked as one of the most innovative and fastest-growing technology companies in the country by both Deloitte and Inc.
Our Mission
Filevine is building the seamless intersection between legal and business by creating a world- class platform to help professionals scale.
Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus to lead the architecture and development of a new, high-availability forms engine. You will work directly with our Lead Architect to replace a legacy system with a modern, scalable solution capable of serving enterprise customers. This role requires a builder who embraces AI tools (LLMs, Copilot) to accelerate coding and logic mapping, ensuring we meet aggressive deprecation timelines. You will also act as an owner of the new platform as while we transition customers off of the legacy system.
Responsibilities
- Architect & Build: Design and implement the backend infrastructure for a scalable, AI-driven forms engine that supports family law, workers' comp, and bankruptcy verticals.
- AI Integration: Implement and optimize "AI-first" workflows, including auto-mapping models and evaluation harnesses to automate the conversion of PDF forms into digital workflows.
- Legacy Migration: Lead the technical strategy for migrating data and logic from a legacy platform, ensuring zero data loss and maintaining compliance standards.
- Performance & Scale: Ensure the platform is "e-filing ready" and capable of handling high-volume, concurrent usage from large enterprise and government clients.
- Mentorship & Review: Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure high-quality standards, serving as a key "knowledge bridge" in the absence of the Lead Architect.
- Tooling & DevOps: Collaborate with SREs to build robust CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and automated diff/repair mechanisms for form updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with proficiency in languages such as C#, Node.js, or Python (experience with Filevine’s tech stack is a plus).
- AI/LLM Fluency: Demonstrated experience or strong interest in using AI coding assistants (Cursor, Copilot, SOTA LLM assistants) to accelerate development and solve complex logic problems.
- System Design: Proven track record of designing microservices or modular architectures for document-heavy or workflow-automation applications.
- Migration Experience: Experience deprecating legacy systems or refactoring monolithic applications into modern services is highly desirable.
- Database Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases, with an understanding of complex data mapping and schema design.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical risks and progress to stakeholders.
