About GameChanger:

We believe in the life-changing impact of youth sports because they encourage leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence—important life lessons that have the power to propel our youth toward meaningful futures. We recognize that without coaches, parents, and volunteers, organized youth sports could not exist. By connecting kids and families through the medium of sports, we celebrate those dedicated heroes and make it our mission to cover every youth athlete like a pro by delivering live video streaming, scorekeeping, and team communication tools to over 550,000 youth sports teams.

So if you love sports, or building cool products is your sport, GameChanger is the team for you. We are a remote-first, dynamic tech company based in New York City, and are solving some of the biggest challenges in youth sports today.

The Position:

The mission of the App Platform team at GameChanger is to empower teams to effectively create, maintain, and deploy mobile apps at scale. App Platform stewards architecture foundations, modularization, dependency management, and various internal frameworks like observability, notifications, and feature toggling. The team’s primary customers are the engineering teams that work on the Android and iOS apps.

As a Senior iOS Engineer on the App Platform team you will influence the engineering organization by driving strategic projects that anticipate developer needs. You will focus primarily on the iOS platform.

What You'll Do:

  • Own and build foundational and scalable solutions for iOS engineers that work on multiple, domain-specific, teams.

  • Lead innovations of our mobile tech stack while it is being actively worked on. Our iOS codebase is transitioning from UIKit/RxSwift/Flux-based view models to SwiftUI/The Composable Architecture.

  • Understand App Platform’s users by regularly interacting with iOS engineers.

  • Help define the team’s technical roadmaps.

  • Evangelize technical decisions across the engineering organization by commenting on and drafting design proposals, hosting tech talks, and pairing with engineers across teams.

Who You Are:

  • Have a deep technical understanding of the iOS platform, including operating system, first-party API (performance, concurrency, state, UI), dependency management, build configurations & artifacts, compiler, linker, runtime.

  • Deliver code aligned with the patterns and principles of clean code/architecture of the iOS platform.

  • Are a self-starter comfortable with identifying opportunities, defining their impact, and driving towards a desired outcome.

  • Take a thoughtful, practical approach to problem-solving that considers tradeoffs and avoids over-engineering.

  • Think about your solutions for both technical scale to handle millions of users, but also for organization scale: building for engineers of various backgrounds and experience levels in a fast growing organization.

  • Solicit and adjust to feedback; can communicate technical concepts across audiences.

Experience:

  • Our apps are written in Swift and have a Reactive architecture using technologies like RxSwift, Realm, and Swift Composable Architecture (TCA).

  • Your team will also do Android development in Kotlin, so having background there would be a bonus, but is not required.

  • Our backend APIs are built with TypeScript, Node.js, Redis, Kafka, and PostgreSQL and run in AWS. It's not required that you know these, but we prefer that you are open to full-stack development.

Perks:

  • Work remotely throughout the US* or from our well-furnished, modern office in Manhattan, NY.

  • Unlimited vacation policy.

  • Paid volunteer opportunities.

  • WFH stipend - $500 annually to make your WFH situation comfortable.

  • Snack stipend - $60 monthly to have snacks shipped to your home office.

  • Full health benefits - medical, dental, vision, prescription, FSA/HRA., and coverage for family/dependents.

  • Life insurance - basic life, supplemental life, and dependent life.

  • Disability leave - short-term disability and long-term disability.

  • Retirement savings - 401K plan offered through Vanguard, with a company match.

  • Company paid access to a wellness platform to support mental, financial and physical wellbeing.

  • Generous parental leave.

  • DICK’S Sporting Goods Teammate Discount.
