Role Description
As a Senior IP Paralegal at Dropbox, you will play a crucial role in supporting our global intellectual property portfolio. You’ll be responsible for patent and trademark prosecution support, docketing, and strategic IP operations. This is a unique opportunity to work cross-functionally with engineers, legal counsel, and external partners on Dropbox’s most innovative technologies. You'll gain high visibility within the legal department and contribute meaningfully to Dropbox’s long-term innovation strategy.
Responsibilities- Manage U.S. and foreign patent and trademark prosecution workflows with outside counsel.
- Maintain accurate IP docketing and ensure timely filings.
- Support invention disclosure reviews and patent committee meetings.
- Tracking and filing Information Disclosure Statements
- Assist with IP budget tracking, forecasting, and invoice review.
- Coordinate with internal product and engineering teams on IP-related matters.
- Maintain and update internal IP records and databases.
- Prepare reports related to patent portfolio metrics.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience as a patent paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. and international patent prosecution processes.
- Strong docketing and data management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent judgment and the ability to make sound decisions independently.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work cross-functionally within the organization and with outside counsel.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Bachelor’s degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with IP management systems.
- Prior experience supporting open-source and trademark portfolios.
- Experience with Symphony IP Management System and MaxVal IDS.
- Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and invoice management tools.
- Experience working in a technology company or with software patents.
