Role overview

Brigit is looking for a Senior IT Operations Manager to build, mature, and scale our internal IT Operations function. You'll partner closely with our VP of Engineering, Security, Compliance, and People teams to develop and execute Brigit's IT strategy. While you'll oversee one IT Support Specialist responsible for day-to-day help desk operations, this role is primarily focused on building scalable processes, improving security and compliance, driving automation, and ensuring operational excellence as Brigit continues to grow.

We're looking for someone who enjoys creating structure where it doesn't yet exist-someone who is a builder, a problem solver, and a hands-on leader who takes ownership, drives execution, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves to get things done.

What you’ll be doing

  • Day-to-Day IT Operations

    • Own Brigit's day-to-day IT Operations strategy while partnering with our IT Support Specialist on daily support activities, providing mentorship, coaching, and prioritization

    • Work with our MSP to provision hardware and manage user onboarding and offboarding

    • Own VPN infrastructure - troubleshoot connectivity issues and manage certificate-based device access

    • Ensure compliance and consistent adherence to existing IT policies and procedures and develop/mature policies where they don’t exist

    • Review and update our IT Risk assessment on a quarterly basis

  • Identity & Access Management

    • Own Identity & Access Management (IAM) across Brigit

    • Administer and continuously improve our Single Sign-On (SSO) environment with Okta, including SAML, SCIM, provisioning, deprovisioning, and role-based access control

  • Security Infrastructure & Operations

    • Implement and maintain security configurations across software, hardware, and cloud infrastructure in line with audit standards

    • Manage security tooling: firewalls, SIEM, and intrusion detection/prevention systems

    • Evaluate new technologies that improve security, scalability, automation, and the employee experience

    • Serve as Brigit's IT/security point of contact with our parent company (Upbound) and affiliated brands - coordinating incident communication, aligning on policies, and pushing back where needed

  • IT Audit Management & Support

    • Serve as primary liaison for third-party IT audits (SOC I & II, PCI, penetration tests, SOX) in partnership with our compliance team

    • Drive remediation planning for any audit findings

  • Incident Management

    • Participate in and help improve Brigit's incident response process

    • Define escalation paths, classification standards, and post-incident review practices

  • Documentation & Operational Excellence

    • Own the creation, refinement, maintenance, and governance of all IT documentation, including system architecture docs, SOPs, operational runbooks, onboarding/offboarding documentation, knowledge base articles, and internal IT policies

    • Develop and improve our Jira-based internal help desk, including process improvements and automation

    • Establish documentation standards that improve consistency, knowledge sharing, audit readiness, and operational maturity

    • Identify gaps in existing documentation and proactively build scalable processes where none currently exist

  • Collaboration & Training

    • Partner with Engineering to strengthen authentication, access controls, and security best practices across the organization

    • Conduct internal security training to promote security awareness across the company

    • Build trusted relationships with vendors, external partners, and third-party auditors to continuously assess and improve Brigit's security posture and IT ecosystem

    • Contribute to Brigit’s internal AI task force from an IT and security lens

What you have

  • 6+ years of experience in IT, with 2+ years at a fast-growing tech company or startup environment required

  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (ideally GCP).

  • Experience managing an IDP Platform such as Okta

  • Experience managing a managed service provider (MSP) such as Rippling

  • Experience with Jira for help desk or project management is a plus

  • Experience serving as the IT lead or primary liaison during SOC 1, SOC 2, PCI, penetration testing, or similar compliance audits.

  • Strong understanding of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or similar.

  • Experience with implementing security tools and monitoring systems.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.

  • Ability to balance long-term strategic initiatives with day-to-day operational needs.

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent are a plus.
