Flowdesk's mission is to build a global financial institution for digital assets, one designed from the ground up for market integrity and efficiency.

To achieve this in a rapidly evolving market, we apply a disciplined, first-principles approach to everything we do. This approach is embedded in our core services — from institutional liquidity provision, trading solutions, and OTC execution, to our comprehensive treasury management offerings.

This is how we cut through the noise and build robust and scalable systems across all our business lines.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our US team based in New York. This role will play a central part in Flowdesk’s expansion in the United States — supporting our regulatory trajectory (including multi-state Money Transmitter Licenses and potential NY BitLicense) while ensuring strong in-house legal support for our commercial and product activities.

You will work closely with our Legal, Compliance, Risk, Product, and Business departments — as well as with external counsel and regulators — to ensure that Flowdesk’s operations in the US meet the highest standards of legal robustness, regulatory alignment, and operational agility.

Requirements

Your role and responsibilities

  • Plan and execute Flowdesk’s US regulatory roadmap, including multi-state Money Transmitter Licenses, lending licenses and potential NY BitLicense.
  • Manage and coordinate external counsel, filings, and regulatory submissions, ensuring timely delivery and accurate reporting.
  • Track and maintain regulatory obligations, remediation efforts, and licensing requirements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including liquidity provision services, OTC trading, and custody.
  • Assist in improving and maintaining internal documentation and legal process to support business growth and continuity.
  • Manage cross-functional communication on all legal matters.
  • Support new product enablement by documenting flows and coordinating closely with Product, Risk, and Compliance departments.
  • Provide pragmatic, crypto-aware legal guidance to business stakeholders.
  • May require international travel.

Background and Experiences

  • At least 7 years of post-qualification experience, with in-house experience required.
  • Strong background in crypto, fintech, or complex financial services.
  • Proven experience with US financial regulation, particularly licensing and compliance in the crypto or financial services sector.
  • Skilled in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts and advising on product-related legal matters in a regulated context.
  • Familiarity with regulatory programs such as Money Transmitter Licenses and/or NY BitLicense preferred.
  • Business-savvy, pragmatic, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.

Benefits
  • International environment (English is the main language)
  • 25 days of paid time off annually, plus U.S. federal holidays
  • Work from Anywhere up to 10 days per year
  • 401(k) plan with a 2% employer match after 3 months of employment
  • Pre-tax savings for transit and parking expenses
  • Access to additional services including Talkspace, One Medical, Teladoc, Health Advocate, and Kindbody for holistic care
  • 100% Employee Coverage from Justworks Benefits (Medical, Dental, and Vision plans)
  • Team events

The base salary range for this role is between $200,000 - $275,000 in the State of New York. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
