Turn complex legal and regulatory developments into clear, timely intelligence for professionals working on the front lines of financial crime prevention.

As Senior Legal Writer for Moneylaundering.com, you will analyze statutes, regulations, enforcement actions and related legal developments involving anti-money laundering, counterterrorist financing and financial regulation. You will translate that material into accurate, accessible briefs and other editorial content written in an authoritative, neutral voice that avoids legalese, while exercising senior editorial judgment over daily coverage and publication priorities.

Working closely with the editor-in-chief, Senior Legal Editor and other legal writers, you will serve as the Senior Legal Editor’s principal day-to-day editorial support. You will conduct final edits, help determine which developments warrant coverage and how they should be prioritized, respond to colleagues’ questions and requests regarding Moneylaundering.com content, and ensure continuity of final editing and publication functions during periods when the Senior Legal Editor is unavailable or required to attend to other priorities.

Responsibilities

Legal and Regulatory Analysis

  • Research and analyze statutes, regulations, enforcement actions, guidance and related developments to identify the facts, legal issues and practical implications most relevant to readers.
  • Exercise senior editorial judgment in determining whether developments warrant coverage and in prioritizing daily publications according to significance, timeliness and reader value.
  • Fact-check anti-money laundering, counterterrorist financing and financial-regulation content to ensure published material is accurate, complete and source-faithful.
  • Translate complex legal concepts into plain English so a professional audience can understand their practical significance without unnecessary legalese.

Authoritative Editorial Content

  • Produce timely briefs and other editorial materials in a clear, authoritative and neutral tone.
  • Conduct final substantive and copy edits of content produced by the legal team, resolving issues involving accuracy, clarity, structure, sourcing, style, headlines and publication readiness.
  • Collaborate with the editor-in-chief, Senior Legal Editor and other legal writers to develop topics, sharpen story angles and maintain consistent editorial standards.
  • Write and edit independently under tight deadlines while providing clear direction and constructive editorial feedback to other writers.
  • Assume responsibility for final editing and publication functions during periods when the Senior Legal Editor is unavailable or required to attend to other priorities, ensuring continuity of daily legal-content operations.
  • Respond promptly and authoritatively to colleagues’ questions and requests concerning Moneylaundering.com content, prior coverage and prospective coverage.

Editorial Operations and Technology

  • Use content management systems and digital publishing tools to manage stories efficiently from assignment and research through final review and publication.
  • Coordinate the daily legal-content workflow with the Senior Legal Editor, including coverage selection, assignment sequencing, publication timing and handoffs.
  • Publish or oversee publication of completed content and confirm that final copy, headlines, links, categorization and presentation meet editorial standards.
  • Apply AI-enabled research or editorial tools responsibly by verifying outputs against authoritative sources and protecting confidential or sensitive information.
  • Help implement editorial technologies and workflow improvements that streamline production, preserve editorial continuity and support timely reporting of regulatory developments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited four-year institution in law, journalism, English, history, communications or a related field.
  • Substantial professional writing and editing experience, including responsibility for final edits or publication-ready copy, and the ability to provide samples demonstrating clear, accurate and accessible work.
  • Legal training or experience sufficient to read statutes, identify legal issues, evaluate the significance of legal and regulatory developments and explain complex requirements in plain English; law school attendance, a J.D. degree or experience as a lawyer is preferred.
  • Demonstrated editorial judgment in selecting, prioritizing and shaping time-sensitive legal, regulatory or financial-crime coverage.
  • Strong research, factchecking, organizational and communication skills, with exceptional writing ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions under deadline pressure, manage multiple assignments and maintain publication continuity while collaborating effectively across the editorial team.
  • Ability to edit colleagues’ work constructively and consistently, resolve substantive and stylistic issues, and enforce editorial standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use Excel, content management systems and online publishing tools to support efficient production.
  • Ability to research or work in a language other than English is preferred.
  • Ability to use AI-enabled tools thoughtfully in research and editorial workflows, including independently validating facts, citations and conclusions before publication.
