ABOUT THE ROLE

As our advertising business continues to scale at Red Seat Ventures, we are seeking an Ad Sales Finance Senior Manager to build and optimize the ad sales finance strategies that drive revenue growth and sales performance across the organization.

 

The  Ad Sales Finance Senior Manager serves as the critical bridge between company financial objectives and sales force execution by partnering across Sales Leadership, Finance, Revenue Operations, HR, and Executive Leadership. 

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in ad sales finance, revenue operations, sales compensation, and media sales analytics. They possess exceptional attention to detail, strong financial acumen, and the ability to translate complex business goals into effective compensation strategies.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Budgeting/Forecasting

  •  Prepare Forecast models for advertising sales channels - Update with actuals, revise forecasts for monthly/quarterly forecasts, annual budget
  •  Work closely with sales groups to gather forecasting inputs/assumptions.  Network Research (viewership), Ad Sales Research, (ad capacity), Sales, Yield/Ad Ops.
  • Prepare metrics reporting and variance analysis/commentary for executive reporting packages.
  • Provide variance analysis and metrics for network finance teams

Monthly Close

  • Accrual and billings – align with Ad Ops to own monthly accrual and billings process. Will extract data from traffic system and other sources for use in booking revenue accruals by digital property for monthly close.
  •  G/L reconciliation – monthly reconciliation of ad revenue general ledger accounts by project, including monthly accrual, prior period true-ups and any other adjusting entries.
  • Prepare monthly metrics reporting and detailed variance analysis.  Identify variance drivers for consideration in the next forecast.  Monitor key metrics (pricing, sellout, yield) and investigate as necessary.

Compensation Management

  • Manage compensation processes through manual and automated incentive compensation platforms, including proprietary and possible Salesforce integrations.
  • Align individual seller goals with Red Seat Ventures revenue targets, budgets, and growth initiatives.
  • Assist leadership in forecasting attainment, commission expense, and incentive program ROI.
  • Evaluate whether incentive structures are successfully driving strategic sales behaviors, including growth across priority podcasts, content verticals, sponsorship offerings, and emerging revenue streams.
  • Develop reporting and dashboards on CRM tools that provide visibility into attainment, compensation expense, productivity, and revenue performance.
  • Deliver actionable recommendations to leadership based on compensation and sales performance trends.
  • Partner closely with Ad Sales Finance and FP&A teams to forecast commission expense and variable compensation costs.
  • Support annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting, and long-range planning processes.
  • Model the financial impact of proposed compensation changes, organizational shifts, and new revenue initiatives.
  • Ensure compensation programs remain financially sustainable while maintaining market competitiveness.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 7+ years of experience in Revenue Operations, Ad Sales Finance, FP&A, Sales Operations, Sales Compensation, or related analytical functions.
  • Experience supporting advertising sales organizations, media companies, digital publishers, podcast networks, broadcast, streaming, or ad-tech businesses.
  • Strong understanding of commission structures, incentive compensation design, quota management, and sales performance measurement.
  • Experience administering compensation platforms such as Xactly Incent, CaptivateIQ, Spiff, Varicent, or similar systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Salesforce, Excel, financial modeling, and business analytics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data visualization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions and leadership levels.
  • Experience in podcasting, digital audio, creator economy, media, or advertising businesses.
  • Background in Ad Sales Finance, Revenue Finance, FP&A, or Commercial Finance.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with media revenue models including sponsorships, host-read advertising, branded content, video, and integrated partnerships.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $128,000.00-179,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
