You will join a consulting team focused on modernizing finance organizations and their supporting systems. In this role, you will support Geller clients across the engagement lifecycle, from planning and execution through delivery of high-quality client-ready materials.

You will lead and participate in client and internal meetings; manage project budgets, invoicing, and engagement governance; and contribute to business development.

Engagements may include accounting oversight, succession planning, forecasting, interim/outsourced controller support, and special projects to address finance process and systems challenges. Excellent technical accounting skills are a requirement to provide subject matter expertise in the delivery of our services. 

The practice also delivers finance technology strategy and transformation, including ERP evaluations, general ledger optimization, and process redesign. You will help lead projects to modernize general ledger architecture, close and reporting, controls, and data flows through scalable, technology-enabled solutions—conducting digital environment assessments; developing roadmaps and requirements; supporting vendor/platform selection; leading system migrations; redesigning operating models; and driving automation and large-scale transformation efforts.

This role includes significant practice development. You will support proposals and onboarding, develop marketing collateral, and build repeatable deliverables and engagement frameworks. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader who delivers excellent client service, communicates clearly, manages multiple priorities to meet deadlines, keeps engagement leadership informed, escalates issues appropriately, and mentors’ junior staff on technical skills and firm protocols.

Your Impact:

Project & Program Management

  • Support Project Executive/Practice Leader in their client service delivery efforts, including advance preparation of documents to facilitate knowledge transfer and transparency on engagement status and challenges.
  • Own project governance, including scope definition, workplans, milestones, dependencies, and risk management.
  • Manage cross functional teams, internal resources, and third-party vendors.
  • Monitor project budgets, delivery timelines, and quality of outputs.
  • Identify risks early, exercise sound judgment in escalation, and drive resolution to maintain delivery momentum.

Client & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Serve as primary engagement lead; manage executive communications and expectations.
  • Translate complex financial and technical concepts into clear, structured, client ready deliverables.
  • Facilitate workshops, design sessions, and status reviews with finance, operations, and technology stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Practice Growth

  • Mentor and develop consultants and senior consultants in the practice’s offerings and delivery.
  • Drive adoption of delivery standards, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Support business development (solution design, scoping, and proposals).
  • Help evolve the practice’s advisory and finance transformation offerings.
  • Maintain a culture of transparency and information sharing, including establishing of and maintaining systems for client and practice data collection to support business continuity.

CFO Strategic Services

  • Support the Project Executive/Practice Leader in delivering recurring strategic financial guidance, including:
    • Oversee in-house, client, and outsourced accounting teams.
    • Prepare board/executive updates on results, risks, and progress.
    • Provide backup support for the Project Executive’s recurring deliverables.

Advisory Services

  • Under the Project Executive’s direction, own day-to-day project execution, including:
    • Deliver financial, accounting, and compliance projects for nonprofits, SaaS/emerging tech, high-growth middle-market, and PE-backed companies.
    • Lead consulting project planning and delivery (process improvement, operational assessments, compliance, and financial reporting).
    • Review and support outsourced accounting, including:
      • GL and financial statement preparation
      • Month-end and year-end close support
      • Account and bank reconciliations
      • Audit readiness and prep
      • Assess grants compliance and finance processes, policies, and internal controls
    • Draft and improve accounting/finance policies and procedures.
    • Manage client relationships and lead meetings as appropriate.
    • Coordinate scheduling and meetings with the Geller administrative team.
    • Conduct industry and technical research to develop new solutions.
    • Apply technology and best practices to improve internal processes.
  • Working knowledge of the close process and relevant experience performing and supervising these above tasks is a requirement.

Digital Transformation

  • Lead end-to-end digital finance transformations (ERP and related Finance platforms, strategy, enablement, implementation, and program management).
  • Lead functional delivery across GL, close, reporting, controls, and data architecture.
  • Advocate for the client to drive transformation, including:
    • Support system selection and vendor/platform evaluation.
    • Modernize close, automate reconciliations, and improve reporting.
    • Provide accounting SME to ensure solutions meet reporting objectives (e.g.,):
      • Chart of accounts and segment design
      • Multi-entity/multi-currency and consolidated reporting models
      • System-enabled controls, audit trails, and compliance
    • Assess current state and define future-state architecture and roadmaps.
  • Partner with implementers on design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live optimization.
  • Standardize and automate record-to-report, procure-to-pay, and reporting processes.
  • Partner with technology/data teams to ensure integration, data quality, and scalability.

What you will offer:

We are looking for people who have:

  • 7+ years working experience, with at least 3 in an supervisory capacity
  • Communicate effectively up/down the team; use judgment on client interactions.
  • Manage multiple engagements; monitor time budgets and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Write and present clear, client-ready deliverables and updates.
  • Advanced computer skills; curiosity to learn new finance/accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Able to travel occasionally and work onsite in NY 3 days/week (or as client needs require).

Hands on experience with one or more of the following platforms:

  • ERP/GL: NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Enterprise, Financial Edge NXT, Dynamics 365 Finance, Workday Financial Management, Campfire, Rillet
  • Close/controls: BlackLine, FloQast, Trintech, DataRails or similar
  • P2P/spend: Bill.com, Tipalti, Ramp, Expensify, Stripe, PayPal
  • CRM: Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics CRM, Raiser’s Edge
  • Treasury/ bank account integrations

Experience with adjacent tools (AP automation, expense, billing,HRIS) is a plus.

Credentials (Preferred)

  • CPA or equivalent finance credential preferred.
  • ERP platform certifications (Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Dynamics, Workday)
  • Public Accounting/Audit experience
  • In-house accounting /FP&A role at a nonprofit, SaaS or portfolio company

Additional Differentiators

  • Experience leading middle market organization full scale digital transformations.
  • Vendor and systems integrator management experience
  • Master’s degree in business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field

The base salary range for this position is:

$145,000 - $175,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits as well as the potential for an annual bonus consideration.
