About Graza

Graza makes always fresh, never blended, extra virgin olive oil in fun-to-use squeeze bottles. In the past two years, we’ve gone from a fast-growing brand to a national business, with products on the shelves of Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, Kroger, Safeway/Albertsons, and many others.

We’ve also expanded beyond olive oil into mayo and chips, with more innovation ahead. We operate across retail, club, DTC, and international markets, and the complexity of the business is growing quickly.

That creates an exciting problem: we need to build the systems, data infrastructure, and processes that allow Graza to scale without adding unnecessary complexity.

The Role

We’re looking for our first dedicated Director of Data & Business Systems

This is not a traditional data engineering role. And it’s not a traditional IT or business systems role. You’ll sit at the intersection of data, technology, and how the business actually works.

You’ll help us understand how information flows through Graza—from customer orders and inventory, through purchasing, production, logistics, finance, and ultimately into the reporting the leadership team uses to run the company.

You’ll identify where we rely on spreadsheets, manual work, duplicate data entry, disconnected systems, or inconsistent definitions. You’ll determine whether the answer is a process change, better use of an existing system, an integration, automation, or something new.

At the same time, you’ll own the evolution of our Snowflake data environment and turn it into a reliable foundation for reporting, analytics, and decision-making.

You’ll report to the VP of Finance and work directly with the leadership team. This is a highly visible role with broad ownership and significant room to shape the function.

What You’ll Do

Build the data foundation.

Own the architecture and roadmap for our Snowflake environment. Design the underlying data model, ingestion and transformation pipelines, and reliable datasets that become the foundation for company reporting. Build the tools and outputs that allow the business to answer questions without recreating analysis in spreadsheets every week.

Understand how the business works.

Map critical business processes and data flows across Finance, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and other functions. Understand where data originates, where it changes, which system owns it, and where things break down. Establish clear systems of record for customers, products, orders, inventory, revenue, COGS, and other critical business domains.

Make Graza's systems work together.

Evaluate our existing technology landscape and determine where we should integrate, configure, replace, consolidate, or build. Own the architecture behind key integrations between accounting, ERP, e-commerce, inventory, supply chain, logistics, retail, and other platforms.

Eliminate unnecessary manual work.

Find the processes that consume people's time because "that's how we've always done it." Quantify the problem, redesign the process, and automate where it makes sense. We want fewer spreadsheets that require someone to remember to update them and more durable systems that work correctly by design.

Build trusted business intelligence.

Partner with Finance, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to turn business questions into useful data products. Build reporting around revenue, margin, customers, channels, SKUs, pricing, velocity, inventory, purchasing, production, logistics, and forecasting. Start with the decision the business needs to make and work backward to the data required to support it.

Create confidence in the numbers.

Establish definitions, ownership, testing, reconciliation, monitoring, and documentation for critical metrics. When Finance, the leadership team, the board, or investors ask a question, we should be able to explain where the number came from and why we trust it.

Build the function.

Manage and develop our existing data analyst and determine what the team should look like as Graza grows. Establish practical engineering and data standards without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. Decide what we should build ourselves, what we should buy, and where outside expertise makes sense.

What Success Looks Like

In your first 12–18 months, you will have:

  • Created a clear map of Graza's major systems, processes, and data flows.
  • Established a target architecture for our data and business systems.
  • Turned Snowflake into a well-modeled, trusted foundation for company reporting.
  • Defined systems of record and eliminated ambiguity around critical business data.
  • Replaced a meaningful number of manual, spreadsheet-dependent processes with scalable workflows.
  • Built reliable reporting for Finance, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain.
  • Established clear definitions and controls around our most important metrics.
  • Identified and prioritized the next wave of integrations, automation, and systems investments.
  • Built a roadmap for the people, technology, and capabilities Graza will need as we scale.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to build something foundational at Graza.

You won't inherit a mature data organization or spend your time maintaining someone else's architecture. You'll have the opportunity to define how data and systems work across a rapidly growing consumer business—and to directly influence how the company operates.

If you like solving messy problems, building things that matter, and making companies work better, we'd like to talk.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

You have 6+ years of experience across data, analytics engineering, business systems, technology, process improvement, or a combination of these disciplines.

You have built or significantly improved a data platform or business systems environment and are comfortable being hands-on. You have strong SQL skills and experience with cloud data warehouses, ideally Snowflake, as well as modern transformation and ingestion tools such as dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, or equivalent technologies.

You understand APIs, integrations, data modeling, data quality, and how operational systems fit together. You can diagnose why two systems disagree—and determine whether the problem is the data, the process, the integration, or the underlying system.

Just as importantly, you know how to sit with a Finance or Operations leader, understand what they are actually trying to accomplish, map the process behind it, and turn that understanding into a better system.

You are comfortable operating as the most senior technical person in the room while also communicating with non-technical leaders. You don't need a large team or a detailed roadmap handed to you. You like creating the roadmap.

Experience in CPG, retail, DTC, food & beverage, or supply chain is a plus, as is experience with platforms such as Cin7, Shopify, QuickBooks, Vividly, Parabola, Snowflake, syndicated retail data, retailer portals, EDI, 3PL/WMS systems, or similar tools.
