Job Description

Reporting to the VP of D2C Engineering, we are looking for a Senior Manager of Software Engineering. You will lead teams within our Marketplace Engineering organization. You will build scalable, customer-centric platforms that power personalized financial experiences across credit, lending, and partner ecosystems. Marketplace Engineering delivers personalized, data-driven experiences that connect consumers with the right financial products at the right time. This includes real-time decisioning, experimentation platforms, partner integrations, and seamless omnichannel experiences across web and native mobile apps. We ask that you will be a blend of hands-on technical leadership and people leadership, with a focus on delivering AI-first, personalized, and experiment-driven experiences at scale. You will lead one or more teams as an engaged manager—guiding architecture, staying close to the technology, and developing engineering talent—while driving execution against product and our goals.

What You'll Do

  • Technical Leadership (Hands-on)
  • Provide architectural leadership across full-stack systems including web, backend services, APIs, and native mobile (iOS/Android) applications
  • Stay close to the code and design—able to dive deep into critical systems
  • Improve adoption of AI-first architectures and thoughtful systems
  • Partner with Staff/Principal Engineers on scalable platform design AI, Personalization & Experimentation
  • Build personalized customer experiences powered by data and ML
  • Promote experimentation platforms (A/B testing, feature flags)
  • Operationalize ML models into production systems
  • Promote data-driven decision-making People Leadership and Team Building
  • Hire engineers and tech lead
  • Coach on technical and career growth
  • Build a culture of ownership and progress
  • Manage performance and growth paths Delivery and Execution
  • Manage delivery across web, backend, and mobile projects
  • Align with Product and Design on priorities
  • Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery
  • Remove blockers and manage risks Engineering Excellence and Operations
  • Establish best practices for testing, CI/CD, and observability
  • Improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency - Champion DevOps and operational ownership

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience
  • Full-stack expertise (Java/Node.js, React)
  • Experience with mobile (iOS/Android)
  • Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
  • System design and architecture skills

Preferred:

  • AI/ML and personalization systems experience
  • Experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, feature flags)
  • Platform engineering experience
  • Data systems and real-time decisioning
