Job Description

This role will manage and lead a team that supports client fund audits and establishes consistent audit readiness and financial reporting practices across Registered Fund Services. The Senior Manager will connect Fund Accounting, Fund Administration, Project and Risk Management, and Derivatives teams to deliver accurate, standardized and review-ready audit support on time. In this role you will own the end-to-end audit readiness framework, strengthen financial reporting quality, improve management visibility and establish sustainable, repeatable audit preparation practices that support ongoing readiness and consistent, high-quality audit results. You will work closely with Risk Management and senior Fund Administration as well as Fund Accounting leadership to identify control gaps, minimize audit cycle times and improve audit results.

Key responsibilities

Audit strategy, governance and execution

  • Manage and provide leadership to the team supporting client fund audits, setting priorities, assigning work and coordinating resources to ensure timely, high-quality audit support and responsive client communication.
  • Lead planning and execution for semiannual and annual registered fund audits, including calendars, readiness milestones, ownership, dependencies and escalation protocols.
  • Establish minimum standards for complete, accurate and consistent audit packages, including naming conventions, support expectations, review evidence, version control and final sign-off.
  • Maintain an integrated view of audit status across fund complexes and identify capacity, timing, quality and dependency risks before deadlines are affected.
  • Provide senior management with concise reporting on milestones, open requests, aging items, risks, decisions needed and corrective actions.

Pre-audit readiness and quality

  • Design and oversee pre-audit checks covering month-end cash completeness, accounting-date positions, past-due items, broker reconciliations, unresolved exceptions and other high-risk balances.
  • Confirm month-end reconciliations are accurate, timely reviewed, supported by evidence and resolved or escalated before audit fieldwork.
  • Coordinate readiness reviews, document exceptions, assign owners, track remediation and validate completion.
  • Challenge recurring manual adjustments, reconciling items and late support so root causes are addressed rather than carried forward.

Financial reporting and technical leadership

  • Provide leadership and instruction on Statements of Investments, financial statements, audit support schedules and top-side adjustments.
  • Establish consistent expectations for proposing, documenting, reviewing, approving, posting and retaining support for top-side adjustments.
  • Ensure trial balance support, portfolio holdings, disclosures and audit schedules are internally consistent and traceable to source records.
  • Partner with Fund Administration and Fund Accounting leaders to resolve complex reporting, classification, valuation and presentation questions.

Stakeholder and auditor coordination

  • Serve as a primary operational contact for auditors and coordinate request intake, clarification, assignment, response quality and timely closure.
  • Facilitate status meetings, communicate priorities, remove roadblocks and escalate material risks or missed commitments with recommended actions.
  • Coordinate support for samples, walkthroughs, inquiries, control evidence, proposed adjustments and management responses.

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Significant experience in registered fund accounting, including mutual funds and/or ETFs, NAV production, period-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Seven or more years of experience in fund accounting, fund administration or fund audit, including hands-on experience preparing for, coordinating or leading fund audits and managing auditor requests, deadlines, supporting documentation and issue resolution.
  • Strong working knowledge of Statements of Investments, financial statements, trial balance relationships, supporting schedules and top-side adjustments.
  • Extensive working knowledge of derivatives, including options, futures and short positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead across functions and influence senior stakeholders without relying solely on direct reporting authority.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues, risks and decisions to auditors and senior management.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong knowledge of internal controls, operational risk, audit evidence, issue management and root-cause remediation.
  • Ability to manage multiple audit cycles, deadlines and stakeholders while maintaining accuracy, sound judgment and attention to detail.

Preferred qualifications

  • Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, CIA or a comparable accounting, audit or investment industry credential.
  • Experience with derivatives accounting and operations, broker reconciliations, collateral, settlements and related audit support.
  • Experience with Power Apps, Power BI, workflow automation, SharePoint or similar low-code and reporting technologies.
  • Experience designing audit readiness frameworks, standardized close controls, reconciliation governance or financial reporting operating models.
  • Experience leading process transformation, control remediation or cross-functional implementation initiatives.
