About the Team

Equity Administration at OpenAI is responsible for the operational foundation of our equity programs. Our team ensures equity data and reporting are reliable, our systems and integrations are resilient, and our processes and controls are built to scale globally. We work cross-functionally with Legal, Finance/Accounting, Payroll, Tax, People, and key vendors to uphold compliance requirements and enable equity strategy as the company evolves.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Global Equity Administration to run and scale our global equity operations with a focus on high-quality execution, scalable processes, audit-ready controls, and reliable equity systems. You will be deeply involved in day-to-day equity administration while also owning more complex workstreams, driving process improvements, and strengthening how equity operations run end-to-end.

You will report to the Head of Equity Administration and partner closely with internal stakeholders such as Legal, Equity Programs, Compensation, Tax, Payroll, Internal Controls, and Finance to align equity administration with business needs and deliver a strong employee experience.

Location: This role is based either in San Francisco, CA or remotely. For SF-based employees, we use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Own end-to-end employee equity administration across key lifecycle events (new grants, vesting/RSU releases, option exercises, and related transactions), including high-volume execution and complex exception handling.

  • Operate core equity cycles by driving timelines, managing dependencies, and ensuring accurate, timely completion across cross-functional partners.

  • Own equity systems and integrations from an operator’s lens, including day-to-day system administration, report builds, workflow configuration, and troubleshooting, while also identifying and driving improvements for scale and data quality.

  • Deliver audit-ready equity reporting and data to support accounting, compliance, and reporting requirements, including building repeatable reconciliations and validation routines.

  • Build and maintain automated equity reporting (scheduled reports, dashboards, and reconciliations) to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy, reliability, and speed.

  • Partner with Internal Controls to keep process documentation, narratives, and flowcharts current, and ensure controls are designed and operating effectively in practice.

  • Partner with Legal and HR to operationalize new equity programs by translating program design into clean workflows, system setup, and execution checklists.

  • Support complex one-off equity transactions, including liquidity events such as tender offers, by coordinating execution steps, data requirements, and stakeholder readiness.

We’re looking for a blend of:

  • 10+ years of progressive equity administration experience in a high-growth environment.

  • Deep expertise in equity systems (Shareworks strongly preferred), including configuration, reporting, scalable workflows, and operating model design.

  • Strong process and controls mindset with a demonstrated ability to build audit-ready operations supported by clear documentation, ownership, and governance.

  • Strong understanding of equity data flows and integrations across HRIS, payroll, and accounting/reporting ecosystems, with an automation-first approach.

  • Proven ability to run complex, high-stakes equity programs amid shifting requirements and tight timelines.

  • Robust analytical skills, including advanced Excel and comfort with reporting/analytics tools.

  • High ownership and prioritization, able to set direction, manage multiple workstreams, and drive cross-functional outcomes.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication, with the ability to influence and align partners at multiple levels.

  • High integrity and sound judgment handling confidential and sensitive information.

You might thrive in this role if:

  • You're meticulous and detail-oriented. Your approach to work is thorough and precise, ensuring no stone is left unturned. You possess a keen eye for the finer details that others might overlook, and you take pride in the accuracy and quality of your work.

  • You’re a phenomenal teammate. You’re a strong communicator who can explain complex topics with ease, in any format. You intuitively understand the importance of keeping everyone in the loop, and you take proactive measures to do so. You’re intellectually honest.

  • You’re an enthusiastic self-starter. You thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, and expect to lead multiple projects. You take ownership of your work and believe that a job not done well is a job not done.

  • You’re a builder. You not only embrace the opportunity to have a direct impact on how a company operates, you revel in it. An organization relies on the quality of its foundation and your passion is building strong systems and processes from the ground up.

  • You’re passionate about technology and artificial intelligence.
