The Senior Manager of Strategic Growth and Corporate Development supports the development and execution of the firm’s strategic agenda across Australia and New Zealand. Working closely with the Executive responsible for Strategic growth and Corporate Development, this role will advance priority growth initiatives, supporting M&A and strategic partnerships, and delivering high-quality strategic insights to inform executive and Board decision-making. This role combines strategic thinking with execution capability, acting as a critical link between strategy design and delivery.
We are seeking a high-performing, results-driven individual to join our Strategy & Corporate Development team at Mercer. This role will be based in Melbourne or Sydney. This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of three days a week in the office. You will lead high-impact growth and corporate development initiatives that directly influence the company’s strategic trajectory. This role demands sharp analytical skills, decisive leadership, and the ability to drive complex transactions from inception to completion while collaborating with executive leadership and key stakeholders.
We will count on you to:
- Scan and identify target markets, develop pipelines and thorough financial analysis, prepare investment cases and strategic recommendations
- Lead and coordinate comprehensive due diligence efforts, managing cross-functional teams and external advisors to ensure flawless execution
- Drive revenue and expense forecasting with precision, presenting compelling insights and actionable strategies to senior leadership
- Identify and capitalise on key partnership/growth opportunities across the firm, structuring/negotiating commercial agreements, activate and scale and monitor performance and delivery
- Develop deep insights into the relevant industry landscape, tracking competitor activity, regulatory developments, emerging trends and produce recommendations
- Mentor and elevate matrix team members, instilling best practices in financial modelling, business case development and due diligence
- Partner closely with business leaders to execute high-stakes transactions that accelerate company growth
What you need to have:
- Proven track record in corporate development with exceptional financial modelling and analytical expertise (IB, Consulting or in-house)
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects under tight deadlines with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes
- Strong executive presence and communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and external partners
- Strategic mindset with a relentless drive for excellence and continuous improvement
- Prepare clear, concise executive and board level materials
- Curious with the ability to work in ambiguous environments comfortably
- 8 - 10 years' Financial services experience
