The Senior Optimization Strategist owns organic strategy for a portfolio of larger and VIP-adjacent accounts, serving as the senior point of contact for strategic direction on their book. While they may carry some VIP accounts alongside executive support, the Senior Strategist is a fully capable, client-facing practitioner who leads client calls, drives quarterly strategic planning, and serves as the senior escalation point for complex performance issues. At this level, practitioners bring a broader expertise set — including working knowledge of GEO, AI search, citations, and listings — and actively mentor Optimization Strategists and Coordinators across the team. This role has a material impact on high-value client retention and revenue through upsell and renewal execution.
What Your Success Will Look Like- SEO Execution & Technical Craft
- Lead pre-launch and quarterly audits for flagship accounts and define the strategic direction delivery teams execute.
- Set organic ranking goals and design tailored, advanced SEO strategies for the most demanding clients.
- Develop and refine SEO audit frameworks, playbooks, and best practices, and evaluate emerging AI-search capabilities for team adoption.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Own organic strategy for a high-complexity and VIP-adjacent client portfolio, serving as the senior point of contact for strategic direction.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex performance issues and at-risk accounts, partnering with Account Managers on recovery and retention.
- Drive upsell and expansion within the high-value portfolio by identifying and executing growth opportunities.
- Represent SEO strategy in cross-functional initiatives and senior client conversations, translating performance into business impact.
- Team Development & Knowledge Building
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and quality review to SEO Strategists and Coordinators, raising execution standards across the team.
- Contribute to the development of team playbooks, frameworks, and best practices as a senior knowledge resource.
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
- Experience
- 6–8 years of progressive SEO experience, with demonstrated ownership of high-complexity, enterprise, or VIP accounts.
- Experience serving as a senior escalation point for complex performance issues, at-risk accounts, and upsell/expansion opportunities.
- Background developing SEO frameworks, playbooks, or best practices, and evaluating emerging AI-search capabilities for team adoption.
- Demonstrated mentorship of junior practitioners and the ability to represent SEO strategy in senior client and internal conversations.

- The base salary range is $70,000 (entry-level) - $90,000 (highly experienced), exclusive of fringe benefits. If you are hired at Scorpion, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. Additionally, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the total salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.
