About the RoleWe are looking for a Senior People & Talent Manager (Recruiting-Focused) to own recruiting end-to-end while supporting core people operations and light office management for our New York office.
This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role with a strong emphasis on recruiting. You will be responsible for building and managing our hiring engine while also serving as a day-to-day people operations partner and helping maintain an organized, welcoming office environment for a hybrid team.
You will work closely with leadership and hiring managers across the company and have meaningful ownership over how Baselayer hires, onboards, and supports its growing team.
What You'll DoTalent & Recruiting (Primary Focus)- Own full-cycle recruiting across technical and non-technical roles, from role definition through offer and onboarding
- Partner with hiring managers to scope roles, define success criteria, and manage hiring timelines
- Source, screen, interview, and manage candidates through the full hiring process
- Deliver a high-quality, consistent candidate experience at every stage
- Manage recruiting pipelines, tools, interview logistics, and offer coordination
- Own and setup Greenhouse Recruiting
- Serve as a day-to-day HR point of contact for employees
- Support onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
- Assist with benefits administration and HR compliance in partnership with leadership
- Help build and maintain scalable people processes as the company grows
- Help maintain an organized, well-stocked, and welcoming New York office
- Manage snacks, supplies, and basic office vendors
- Coordinate in-office team days, meetings, and occasional events
- Ensure the office runs smoothly for a hybrid workforce
- Also assist with our San Francisco office remotely
You are highly organized, people-oriented, and execution-focused. You enjoy recruiting and take pride in building strong candidate relationships, but you’re also comfortable owning operational details and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
You operate with a strong sense of ownership, communicate clearly, and are comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment. You’re excited to take responsibility for recruiting while contributing broadly to people operations and office culture.
Required Experience and Skills- 4 to 7 years of experience in recruiting, HR, or people operations
- Hands-on experience owning full-cycle recruiting
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfort operating in a startup or high-growth environment
- NYC-based and able to work in-office 3 days per week
- Recruiting-first mindset with strong candidate instincts
- Ability to balance strategic hiring needs with day-to-day execution
- Strong attention to detail and operational follow-through
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats and building structure where needed
- Motivated by ownership and helping build a strong team and culture
Hybrid in our NYC office (3 days per week in-office)
Compensation and Benefits- Base salary range of $120,000 to $250,000
