About Ting Labs

Ting Labs is the company behind Ting, an electrical fire prevention sensor active in more than 1.3 million homes across North America. A single Ting sensor takes 30 million measurements per second; across the fleet, the result is one of the largest continuous, high-resolution datasets ever assembled on the residential electrical grid.

Ting's sensor fleet provides real-time visibility into hidden electrical fire hazards across more than a million homes. These insights enable our Ting Fire Safety Team to identify hazards early and help prevent devastating electrical fires before they start.

About the Role

We are hiring a Product Manager to scale Ting’s consumer product and services — owning strategy, roadmap, customer support and insights, GTM, and the web and mobile apps themselves.

This role sits at the intersection of product and marketing. It will partner very closely with marketing to deliver an evolving customer experience, with the goal of growing the Ting installed base through both existing and new channels.

What You'll Own

  • The consumer. Be the in-house expert on consumers' needs - what prompted them to request or buy the product, how they use it, and what new problems it can solve for them. Run discovery, build durable feedback loops, and translate insight into the product roadmap.
  • Internal tools.  Evolve the tools used by our Fire Safety Team to increase FST effectiveness and throughput resolving customer’s fire hazards.
  • The experience. Elevate the existing web and mobile experiences and support new flows and customer experiences.
  • Product vision and strategy. Set the North Star direction for the Ting Sensor and Services and the strategy to realize the vision in concert with company leadership.
  • Roadmap definition and delivery. Define and ship the roadmap to make progress towards the vision. Partner with design, engineering, marketing and operations to shape the scope of each release. Measure consumer and business impact of product changes after they’re made.
  • Expand distribution channels.  Lead product development in support of new distribution channels in concert with Marketing and Sales.  These include D2C, new channel partners, and international expansion.
  • Go-to-market. Partner with marketing on positioning, messaging, pricing and packaging. Ensure a smooth experience regardless of acquisition channel
  • Scalable product operations. Elevate the internal roadmapping, prioritization, and release-planning practices for this product line.
  • AI-native operating. Use modern AI tools fluently across research, prototyping, writing, and analysis — at the pace PMs are now expected to work.

What We're Looking For

Consumer product experience
  • 4+ years of consumer / mobile app product management experience.
  • 2+ years distributing products via D2C channels,  experience with subscription-based products, knowledge of churn models and LTV calculations.
  • Strong understanding of how consumers interact with device / software combinations such as wearables, smart home technology and telemetry.  Knowledge of how to extract qualitative and quantitative consumer insights to inform the product strategy and roadmap.
  • Experience with internal tools used to support the consumer experience is preferred.
Business acumen
  • Excellent communication, presentation skills, and executive presence.
  • Comfortable leading both product and business conversations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track record of translating ambiguous consumer needs into repeatable product requirements that serve multiple buyers.
  • Strong instinct for pricing, packaging, and what makes a D2C product commercially viable.
Operating style
  • 2+ years in a growth-stage startup environment — you’re at home with ambiguity, pace, and the swings of building something new.
  • AI-native operator. You can name the specific AI tools and workflows you use day-to-day and explain how they’ve changed what you produce and how fast.
  • A natural bridge between engineers and business stakeholders.  Plays well with others in conditions of pressure and uncertainty.
  • Process-minded in a builder’s way: lightweight processes that scale with the team, not for their own sake.

Why Join Us?

By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a groundbreaking technology that is creating a new category while helping to protect families, homes, and communities from the devastating impacts of electrical fires.
