About Mento

Mento is on a mission to increase human potential at a global scale and make people—and companies—more successful. We believe coaching is among the most effective tools to unlock transformational growth and continuous improvement. And, we believe the future of coaching is human+ai.

We are a remote-first company based in the US with $9.5M raised from leading VCs and angel investors.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to own the product vision and roadmap for our AI-powered coaching platform. At Mento, we believe deeply in the enduring value of human coaching—our AI tools exist to extend the reach and impact of great coaches, not replace them. You'll define how AI and human coaching work together across two distinct but connected product surfaces: tools that help our coaches do their best work, and experiences that help members get more out of coaching between and beyond their sessions.

This is a hands-on PM role at an early-stage company. You'll work closely with engineering, design, and our coaching team to ship product, and you'll bring a deep understanding of the coaching and HR space to every decision you make. We move quickly and are continuously working to leverage AI and other technologies to streamline our process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the AI coaching product roadmap. Define and prioritize features across both the coach-facing and member-facing sides of the platform—how AI augments our coaches' capabilities, and how members engage with coaching insights, track their progress, and take action between sessions. Balance short-term shipping with longer-term product strategy.

  • Translate coaching expertise into product. Work closely with our coaching team to deeply understand coaching methodology and translate it into product features. Build intuition for what makes human coaching transformational, and use that as the benchmark for what great AI-assisted coaching should feel like—for both coaches and members.

  • Support and prioritize coaching operations. Work with our coaching team to identify operational bottlenecks and prioritize product and tooling improvements that make coaches more effective—session workflows, member matching, progress tracking, capacity forecasting, and the day-to-day systems that support great coaching at scale.

  • Work with HR buyers and enterprise stakeholders. Develop a strong understanding of how HR teams, L&D leaders, and people managers evaluate and purchase coaching solutions. Incorporate buyer needs into the roadmap without losing sight of the end-user experience.

  • Drive product discovery and user research alongside design. Partner closely with our design team to plan and run user interviews, prototype concepts, and synthesize findings from coaches, members, and HR buyers. UXR is a shared practice here—you'll bring the product perspective while working hand-in-hand with design to develop a rich understanding of user needs across all sides of the market.

  • Leverage AI throughout your PM practice. We expect this person to actively use AI tools in their day-to-day work—whether that's synthesizing research, drafting specs, or exploring product ideas. Beyond your own workflow, you'll help shape how we think about AI as a product team and bring strong opinions about where AI creates genuine value versus noise.

  • Drive team planning, process, and tooling. Own how we organize and execute product work—managing our Linear board, coordinating sprint planning and retros, and keeping work visible and well-scoped across the team. We use Linear, Slack, and Figma today, and we're unafraid to try new tools. We expect you to actively improve how we work, not just what we build.

  • Collaborate tightly with engineering and design. Write clear specs, make pragmatic scope decisions, vibe code prototypes, and stay deeply involved through execution. At this stage, great PMs don't just hand off requirements—they stay in the details. We operate in a world that often has incomplete specs and changing priorities, and you should be comfortable in that environment while helping us become more structured as we grow.

Who We're Looking For
  • 5–8 years of product management experience. You've shipped meaningful products end-to-end and can work independently across discovery, definition, and delivery. You've worked at an early-stage company and are comfortable with ambiguity.

  • You understand—or are deeply curious about—coaching. Experience in HR tech, L&D, coaching platforms, or people development tools. Or you've been engaged with coaching as a practitioner or participant. You understand what makes human coaching transformational, and you care about preserving that in a product.

  • You understand HR buyers and enterprise dynamics. You've worked on products that sell into HR or L&D teams. You understand how these buyers evaluate tools, what their organizational constraints are, and how to balance their needs with end-user experience.

  • You see AI as a tool for augmentation, not replacement. You're excited about what AI makes possible, but you're equally thoughtful about where human judgment and connection are irreplaceable. You have a nuanced view of how AI and human coaching can complement each other, and strong opinions about where the boundaries should be.

  • You're a strong collaborator on research and design. You don't treat UXR as something that happens before you write specs—you run it together with design, stay curious about what you find, and let it genuinely shape product direction.

  • You're data-informed but user-obsessed. You can define metrics and use data to make decisions, but you invest heavily in qualitative research and have strong intuitions about user behavior.

Why Work with Us?
  • We are a company dedicated to empowering professionals to live meaningful careers. That starts with our culture at Mento.

  • You're excited about building a product that genuinely transforms how people grow at work—across both sides of the coaching relationship—and you see AI as the vehicle to bring high-quality coaching to people who've never had access to it.

  • We work hard to foster a workplace built around trust, respect, and collaboration. As a remote-first company, we believe in flexibility and autonomy—as long as you're delivering great work and staying connected with your teammates, you can work from anywhere.

  • This is an opportunity to join an early-stage, mission-driven team as a senior product leader with direct influence over product strategy and roadmap. You'll work alongside coaches, engineers, and designers who are deeply invested in getting this right.

  • We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better product for our users. If you're passionate about building products that help people thrive at work, we want to hear from you.
