Join our team as a Press Relations & Communications Manager, where you’ll shape our media strategy, elevate our brand through impactful storytelling, and secure executive visibility at prestigious events in tech, business, and education. Your expertise in building strong journalist relationships and identifying newsworthy opportunities will drive our voice in the market. With a passion for language learning, you’ll lead our press office in Spain, contributing to consistent and engaging communication across global markets.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Shape and evolve the corporate narrative: Continuously refine Preply’s core story to reflect the company’s evolution, priorities, and market landscape, ensuring consistency across all external-facing content and messaging.
  • Lead and execute PR strategy: Develop and drive proactive PR plans that position Preply as a thought leader in the edtech space. Ensure messaging aligns with company goals, brand positioning, and audience needs.
  • Craft compelling press materials and brand stories: Write and edit high-impact press releases, media kits, feature stories, and op-eds, collaborating closely with brand, research, and other internal teams to bring the company’s mission and milestones to life.
  • Build and maintain media relationships: Foster strong connections with key journalists, editors, and influencers in tech and business media. Act as the primary point of contact for all inbound press inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Monitor industry trends and media landscape: Stay on top of developments in tech, education, and language learning to identify white-space opportunities, anticipate risks, and inform future story angles or positioning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on messaging and campaigns: Partner closely with marketing, product, strategy, and leadership teams to ensure consistent and aligned messaging across campaigns, launches, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Create data-driven, multi-channel narratives: Work with SEO and research teams to translate data and insights into stories that can be used across PR, owned media, and content marketing, including reports, infographics, and articles.
  • Support executive visibility and event presence: Plan and coordinate executive speaking opportunities at key events and in the media. Prepare messaging, talking points, and presence strategies that reinforce the company’s narrative and expertise.
  • Lead crisis communications planning and response: Develop strategies to manage reputational risk, including crisis playbooks and reactive messaging. Serve as spokesperson or support executives during high-pressure situations, partnering with customer care and legal teams.
  • Track, analyze, and report on PR performance: Define relevant KPIs, monitor media coverage, and measure the impact of PR efforts. Use insights to refine strategies and identify areas for growth or improvement in brand perception.

What you need to succeed:

  • 8+ years of experience in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications including tech industry.

  • Proven experience navigating and executing PR strategies in the U.S. and North American markets.

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is a must 

  • Prior experience in shaping corporate narratives 

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences.

  • Experience managing PR agencies to KPIs across a variety of markets

  • Experience working on long-term strategies with senior management and building strong working relationships with Legal & Marketing

  • Proven track record in managing events and coordinating executive speaking engagements.

Salary and Benefits: 

  • $165K/yr - $186K/yr  Full-time  - Senior level
