Working as part of a cross-functional team you lead the R&D activities required to complete new product development and maintain portfolios and/or productivity projects keeping in mind the goal to deliver the desired consumer experience.
How you will contribute
You will work independently to plan, lead and coordinate technical projects in line with R&D marketing and manufacturing requirements. You will effectively communicate status and risks and plan, lead and coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In addition, you will plan, lead and coordinate development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation. etc.). To provide direction for product and process development, you will use digital simulation models to obtain, understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information. In this role, you will support manufacturing line qualifications, new product launches, and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.

What you need to know about this position:
This Senior Scientist II, Cakes & Pastries R&D role will support all projects across the 7Days brand in MDLZ North America. This person will be responsible for product development activities for their projects.
What extra ingredients you will bring:• Consumer focused defining consumer desired experiences collaboratively with marketing and developing the strategic innovation pipeline. Being a constant champion for the consumer.• Ability to lead projects in development and commercialization of new products with strong interpersonal and communication skills.• Formula/product development expertise in Biscuit is preferred but not required.• Understanding equipment design and manufacturing processes to support product and process specifications.• Strong project management & collaboration working cross functionally with agility partnering with internal and external manufacturers executing with excellence and technical rigor.• Strong problems skills and strategic agility.• Can stand alone, handle complexity, influence and present effectively to senior stakeholders and Senior Leadership Team• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
Education / Certifications:
B.S. or M.S. in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Job specific requirements:
6-8 years of experience in a Product Development or technical Research & Development role
Travel requirements:
Up to 50% travel will be required in the first 12 months and then 20% ongoing
Work schedule:
This role is based on-site in East Hanover, NJ with a hybrid schedule requiring three days per week in the office.
Salary and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $97,300 to $133,815; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education and location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
