This role is part of the Materials Technology-Packaging team within the Global Research organization dedicated to establishing fundamental scientific understanding and discovering technologies that will enable breakthrough competitive and sustainable advantage for our categories and overall business.
How you will contribute:
In this role, you will support material development programs for global cross category team, addressing technical challenges and emerging technology needs across the portfolio to achieve sustainability and growth-related corporate objectives. You will be an internally recognized expert in polymer materials and serve as a technical member of the organization, regularly interacting with other senior managers to define and create technical strategies and act as gatekeeper for technical rigor for our material specifications. Additionally, you will drive to ensure a robust intellectual property strategy is in place and ensure compliance to all policies and government regulations for our materials pipeline.

- Experience in polymer science and material fundamentals
- Understanding of polymer structure-property relationships and knowledge of polymer analytical techniques
- Problem solving skills including developing and testing hypotheses on product or process related issues.
- Must be self-motivated and demonstrate strong curiosity of technical work.
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Respect others and be willing to work across diverse cultures.
- Able to work both independently and with a team.
- Demonstrated thought leadership and drive for results, with ability to formulate strategy while planning and problem solving in a dynamic and outcome-oriented environment.
- Experience in polymers coatings and/or biomaterials is desired.

Education / Certifications: PhD with extensive of experience in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or similar discipline
Job specific requirements: 3 - 5 years of related experience
Travel requirements: -30%
Work schedule: M-F

This role can be based at our R&D center in either East Hanover, NJ or Curitiba, Brazil.
