About LemonEdge
LemonEdge is a next-generation accounting platform purpose-built for private capital markets. Our technology gives fund administrators and asset managers the tools to automate complexity, improve transparency, build trust, and scale faster. With strong early traction in North America and EMEA, we are now entering our next phase of growth focused on customer expansion, operational discipline, and world-class client experience.
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer at LemonEdge, you’ll own meaningful parts of our accounting platform, from data model to production. You’ll design and ship the features and services that move fund operations from manual and fragile to automated and dependable, and you’ll have the latitude to fix what’s in the way, whether that’s a performance bottleneck, a test gap, or architecture that has outlived its usefulness.
You’ll be building alongside a market in the middle of real change. Private capital is growing fast, and the way funds are created, administered, and managed is being rebuilt around modern software rather than spreadsheets and systems designed for a different era. LemonEdge is purpose-built for that shift, and what you ship goes straight to the fund administrators and asset managers who run on it. The engineering is hard and the impact is visible: your work changes how an entire industry operates.
The financial logic must be exactly right, the platform needs to hold up at real scale, and customers feel every improvement you make. You’ll be trusted to keep a living codebase healthy, not just to build on it. We use AI-assisted development pragmatically and with clear guardrails, and you’ll help shape how the team puts it to work.
LemonEdge is a remote-first company. This role is open to candidates based in the United States who can work core Eastern Time hours. Expect occasional travel for team and customer onsites, typically up to four times per year. The role participates in an engineering on-call rotation, which is light and infrequent.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and ship features and services on the LemonEdge platform end-to-end — from data model and API design through testing, deployment, and production operation.
- Identify and implement high-impact improvements: performance baselines, reliability hardening, refactoring of high-traffic paths, and optimizing data-access patterns the rest of the platform sits on.
- Partner with Product, Client Success, and peer engineering teams to scope work, own delivery of committed customer-visible milestones across the quarterly roadmap, and surface trade-offs and risks early rather than late.
- Work directly with technical and subject-matter accounting experts both internally and from our clients to shape the solution and rapidly iterate on their feedback.
- Raise the engineering bar through thorough code review, design feedback, and mentoring of mid-level engineers toward production ownership.
- Leverage agentic coding tools pragmatically in your day-to-day work, and expand the safe operating patterns that make AI-accelerated delivery trustworthy such as automated test coverage at PR time, regression prevention, validation of generated code, and norms for where AI output can and cannot yet be trusted.
- Champion supportability and customer experience: strong observability, disciplined incident response, SLA adherence, and a proactive posture on defects rather than a reactive one.
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years building production software, with a track record of shipping non-trivial systems on committed timelines.
- Strong technical depth in a modern server-side stack. Working experience with .NET / C# is strongly preferred; we will consider candidates with equivalent depth in another typed, managed-runtime ecosystem who can ramp quickly.
- Demonstrated success improving an existing platform at scale; you are energized by making a living codebase faster, safer, and easier to change, not only by greenfield work.
- Comfort across the full delivery lifecycle: data modeling, API design, testing strategy, CI/CD, observability, and production operations in a cloud-hosted SaaS environment.
- Working fluency with AI-assisted development tools, paired with the judgment to know where they accelerate you and where they cannot yet be trusted.
- A high bar for quality: you own every line of code you ship, you write tests as a habit rather than an obligation, and you hold the line on regression prevention.
- Self-direction and pragmatism; you can take an ambiguous problem, scope it honestly, and drive it to a shipped outcome without waiting to be unblocked.
- Strong written communication and a collaborative working style that holds up across engineering, product, and client-facing teams in a distributed company.
Nice to Have
- Experience operating SaaS systems on Kubernetes or a comparable cloud-native platform — observability, on-call practice, cloud cost awareness.
- Background in fintech, fund administration, partnership accounting, or another domain with non-trivial financial logic and audit expectations.
- Experience defining team-level guardrails for AI-assisted development — usage policies, evaluation of generated code, prompt and context practices, or building LLM-backed product capabilities safely.
- Experience contributing to a platform migration, modernization, or re-architecture while continuing to deliver value to existing customers.
- Experience operating in an early-stage or high-growth environment where shape and process are still being defined.
