About the job

  • As a Senior Software Engineer for our Product Analytics Core team, your role is to enhance the Heap web application and Heap.js snippet to provide product analytics capabilities to a wide range of customers with diverse needs. Unlike most product analytics tools, Heap captures web interactions automatically, which makes creating events and finding retroactive insights easier, but also brings about interesting and unique technical challenges due to the scale of captured data. It also means our users need tools to keep their data organized for easy analysis.
  • This team owns surfaces end-to-end to make this a reality, including: the heap.js snippet that captures events client-side, app surfaces to govern captured data, and app surfaces to query and make sense of captured data. You will not have any direct reports in this role, and you will report to an Engineering Manager.

What you’ll do

  • Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of Heap | by Contentsquare’s core Product Analytics technical surface areas, ensuring they meet Contentsquare’s growing scale and cross-sell opportunities. Work with technical stakeholders from across the company to solve big problems, align on technical direction, and make sure our systems continue to meet their evolving needs. Grow other developers on the team and set a high bar for engineering best practices.Engage as an integral part of the Engineering team, collaborating with Product Managers and Designers throughout the product development lifecycle, from discovery and design to delivery and ongoing monitoring post-release.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • 5+ years experience developing large frontend projects using a modern component-based Javascript framework
  • 5+ years experience with full-stack development, especially on a Node.js/Typescript stack
  • A collaborative and intellectually curious approach to software development. You enjoy learning from and teaching others, and aren’t afraid of asking lots of questions.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in writing. We’re a distributed team all over the world, so we pride ourselves on our ability to communicate complex ideas clearly in writing across the team.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, enabling effective collaboration and communication across teams
  • A mindset that prioritizes MVP (Minimum Viable Product) principles, emphasizing simplicity and efficiency
  • Desire to work in a respectful, transparent, and collaborative environment, aligned with our company values
