What's Default?

Default is building the AI operating system for modern go-to-market teams. Our all-in-one platform combines best-in-class lead capture, instant scheduling, enrichment, routing, and automation into a single, powerful product—built from the ground up for speed, flexibility, and AI-native execution.

Backed by Craft Ventures, 8VC, BoxGroup, Menlo Ventures, and founders of companies like Figma, Notion, Airtable, and Ramp, Default is used by startups and mid-market teams who want to move faster, convert more leads, and automate every step from interest to opportunity.

We’re on a mission to help companies grow faster from zero to IPO and beyond.

What is Scheduling?

Default Scheduling is one of the most powerful and visible parts of our platform. Every meeting that gets booked, every lead that gets assigned, and every rep who gets calendar coverage—all of it flows through the Scheduling engine.

This isn’t just a booking link. We’re building the most sophisticated real-time lead-to-rep scheduler in the market, where decisions are driven by routing logic, enrichment, availability, stage, territory, campaign metadata, and more.

We’re looking for a high-agency Senior Engineer to join this team and help us build a truly world-class scheduling layer for the future of GTM.

We're expanding the team to scale execution throughput from thousands to millions of actions per day, and to introduce powerful new products across the revenue function—all of which rely on Workflows to execute in real time, with context, precision, and speed.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Scheduling team, you’ll work closely with the CTO, product team, and fellow engineers to build and scale one of Default’s core products.

You’ll:

  • Own and ship core scheduling and routing features across backend, infra, and frontend
  • Work on real-time meeting distribution logic across teams, queues, time zones, and segments
  • Build scheduling flows that convert anonymous visitors into qualified pipeline—instantly
  • Leverage Default’s rich contact, company, and routing data to enable intelligent scheduling
  • Contribute to Default’s broader product surface when needed (we’re early, everyone wears hats)

You're Probably a Fit if You:

  • Have built or scaled mission-critical, high-throughput scheduling or real-time systems
  • Have worked on user-facing product surfaces with high conversion stakes (e.g. checkout flows, onboarding, scheduling)
  • Enjoy turning raw data into clean UX and performant systems
  • Are a strong full-stack engineer who can deliver E2E product features without handoffs
  • Are thoughtful about UI/UX when building tools that serve the customer’s customer
  • Love working with product, design, and leadership in fast feedback loops
  • Can navigate ambiguity, greenfield problems, and evolving architecture
  • Don’t hate time zones—and know how to make them behave

Bonus points if you have strong opinions about where AI fits in scheduling, automation, or GTM workflows. We’d love to hear them.

Tech Stack

We build with TypeScript, React, Node, Postgres, Redis, and scalable queueing systems. Familiarity with real-time systems, calendar APIs, time zone logic, and fallback/priority modeling is helpful—but curiosity and speed matter more than checking boxes.

Compensation & Benefits

$160,000–$200,000 base + competitive equity

In-person, NYC HQ (Flatiron)

Benefits include:

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Flexible PTO
  • Wellness stipend
  • Relocation support to NYC

Why Default?

  • You’ll join a small, elite team shipping fast on a massive product surface area
  • You'll probably get a cool email address ([email protected])
  • You’ll work on problems that sit at the intersection of engineering, product design, AI, and user behavior
  • Building at Default means building the growth blueprint for the next generation of fast-growing companies
  • You’ll do all of the above with teammates who are as obsessed with quality and speed as you are
