Senior Solutions Architect, Software-Defined Broadcast

What You'll Do

Own solution architecture for software-defined live production: high- and low-level design, vendor-neutral reference architectures, and migration from SDI and ST 2110-centric plants into DMF-aligned platforms.

Map productions to a graph of media functions — ingest, convert, mix, process, render, analyse, deliver — and decide what runs on-prem, at the edge, or in the cloud, including burst, disaster recovery, and asynchronous paths.

Specify the data plane and the control plane: where ST 2110, IPMX, and SDI remain the I/O edge; where shared-memory and fabrics carry essence inside the cluster; how NMOS and facility APIs replace serial ports and vendor GUIs.

Design the platform around Kubernetes for media functions, GPU and NIC scheduling, timing at the edge, identity and zero-trust zoning, and observability that a gallery and a NOC can both use.

Lead multi-vendor integration through SAT and UAT, proof of performance, runbooks, and on-air acceptance. Stay accountable when it is live.

Write and defend RFPs, statements of work, and effort models. Translate production requirements into compute, network, and an operating model that can scale up and down.

Mentor the engineering bench and represent the practice with clients and in industry groups (e.g. EBU DMF, AMWA, SMPTE, MXL).

The role operates across a blend of design office, lab, and live client sites. 

What You'll Bring

8+ years in professional live production, broadcast facilities, outside broadcast, or a systems integrator serving those environments. You have been responsible for a system that goes to air.

Deep, evidenced ST 2110 practice: PTP / ST 2059, ST 2022-7, multicast design, NMOS, leaf-spine media fabrics, and commissioning with professional tools.

Real IT and network depth: Linux, IP routing, QoS, hybrid cloud, identity, and the difference between a media network and a corporate network.

Software-defined fluency: containers, Kubernetes concepts, REST/OpenAPI, Git, infrastructure-as-code. You do not have to be the best programmer in the room. You must be able to read an SDK, specify an API, and spot a design that only works in a vendor GUI.

Solution-architecture craft: client workshops, vendor evaluation, risk, cost, and an operating model.

The temperament of a senior integrator: calm on-air, precise on paper, unwilling to hide behind a vendor.

Flexibility, technical precision during critical project phases, and a strong client-facing presence.

Preferred Experience

Hands-on with ORIGIN, MXL, Holoscan, Imagine AMPP, Grass Valley AMPP-class, Lawo HOME, Sony/Nevion, or similar software-defined production platforms

C++ or Python sufficient to read media-function code and write orchestrators and tests

Cloud or Kubernetes credentials (AWS/Azure architect, CKA)

Published designs, or contributions to EBU, SMPTE, NMOS, MXL or Matrox Origin
