About the Role

As a Senior Sales Engineer at WithClutch, you'll partner directly with our Account Executives to drive technical strategy across the full sales cycle: from discovery through solution design to close. You're the person AEs bring in when a deal needs technical credibility: scoping integrations, answering the hard architecture questions, and building the demo and proof-of-concept work that moves a deal forward.

This is a sales role for someone with real technical depth, not an engineering role — but that depth needs to be genuine. You'll independently configure and debug the systems you work in, catch errors before they become someone else's problem, and hold your own with a credit union's CTO on integration complexity. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with both external clients and internal partners matter as much as the technical chops — but neither substitutes for the other.

About the Team

We are a high-performing team driven by a shared passion for solving complex problems and delivering elegant, impactful solutions. We believe in working hard while having fun, and we bring energy, creativity, and collaboration to everything we do.

As master storytellers, we craft compelling narratives and presentations that resonate deeply with our clients and internal partners alike. Our ability to simplify the complex, combined with our technical expertise and business acumen, enables us to drive value and build trust at every stage of the sales process.

What You’ll Do

Within 1 months, you will:

  • Have a full understanding of the problems we are solving with our technology and be able to assign our solutions/features to the specific pains our clients are feeling.

  • Be able to autonomously configure demo instances for consumer lending and consumer deposits and will have mastered the associated product demo talk tracks.

  • Demonstrate a solid foundation of the ecosystem partners Clutch touches and have familiarity with competitor solutions.

  • Be fully credible on our technical stack and product suite, able to field cross-functional questions without escalation, including but not limited to: Claude, Demostack and Github (inclusive of the coding peripherals eg: vs code)

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Have run at least 1 full sales cycle where you have played the leading role, including solution design for consumer deposits and/or lending.

  • Be the default point of technical escalation for at least one class of complex deals (e.g., integration-heavy or compliance-sensitive opportunities)

  • Be able to articulate a solid understanding of our solutions, integration paradigms, ecosystem partners, and product roadmap.

  • Have demonstrated proficiency with the tools used in your day-to-day activities as evidenced by the artifacts you will have contributed to team and company libraries.

  • Have solidified deep interpersonal relationships with cross-functional partners, including but not limited to: product, engineering, design, compliance, implementations, enablement, and customer success that contribute to the overall success of Clutch.

  • Work semi-autonomously with limited oversight from management

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Be seen as a product expert across all solutions that Clutch provides, including consumer deposits, consumer lending, business deposits, loan automation, and ancillary offerings.

  • Have introduced an AI-enabled workflow (e.g., automated demo environment provisioning, AI-assisted technical qualification) that the full SE team has adopted, and can point to a specific, measurable efficiency gain it produced for the team's output (e.g., % reduction in demo build time, % faster discovery-to-proposal turnaround) — not just your own throughput

  • Have built and own the SE team's Technical Discovery & Qualification Framework — a structured scorecard for assessing integration complexity, compliance risk, and technical fit that does not exist today. This becomes the tool every SE runs new opportunities through, and the required step before an AE commits demo and solution-design resources to a deal.

  • Work in a mostly autonomous fashion (eg: without support from management), ensuring you are managing up appropriately

  • Will be considered an SME for not only products sold by Clutch but also system architecture, integration paradigms, system configurations, and internal tooling.

  • Be the named point of technical escalation for integration-heavy and compliance-sensitive deals — AEs and SEs route to you by default when a deal's technical complexity threatens to stall it, not once you've had to prove yourself

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience: 5+ years working as a sales engineer, solutions engineer, or technical consultant, preferably in fintech or for a high-growth startup.

  • Sales Acumen: Proven experience in a technical sales or sales engineering role, preferably within the fintech or SaaS industry. Previous training/certifications from Sandler or MEDDIC/MEDDPICC a plus.

  • Technical (Systems Knowledge): Comfortable reading and adjusting scripts, working with APIs, and configuring integrations across CRM, demo, and workflow tools — this is about technical fluency in a sales context, not production software development.

    • Exposure to JSON/API-based integrations is a plus; you don't need to write application code from scratch.

  • AI Fluency: Solid understanding of AI and the ability to leverage it effectively and accurately. Experience with Demostack, inclusive of building tours and clones with unique structures, is a plus.

    • Strong technical foundation across the relevant product/systems domain, with enough depth to be a real escalation point

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Sense of Urgency: Operates with a strong sense of urgency, making sound, well-reasoned decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality or accuracy

  • Strong Judgement: Judgment to identify which technical/process gaps are worth fixing at the team level versus which are one-off

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand complex customer requirements and propose effective solutions.

  • Customer Focus: Dedication to understanding and addressing customer needs with a customer-first mindset.

  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive team environment.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment where priorities and tasks can change rapidly.

  • Travel: The ability to travel (both domestically and internationally) up to 50% of the time with little notice.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Deep knowledge of one or more of the following: real-time core banking systems, online banking platforms, deposit account origination systems, risk, fraud and compliance tools, and modern consumer loan origination systems.

    • Prior banking experience (e.g. retail branch, branch operations or systems support) inclusive of working for a vendor/partner.Please note that this role may evolve as our business needs change, so we appreciate your flexibility and adaptability.

What’s In It For You?

  • Remote Flexibility: Enjoy the freedom of remote work from anywhere, balancing life and career seamlessly.

  • Unforgettable Off-Sites: Twice a year, bond with colleagues in exciting destinations, fostering teamwork and fresh ideas.

  • Paid Time Off: Enjoy flexible PTO days yearly for relaxation and rejuvenation.

  • Stock Options: Joining us means having a stake in our success, so you'll receive stock options as part of your compensation package.

  • Home Office Setup: Create your ideal workspace with a dedicated budget for home office essentials.

  • Work Trip Budget: Grow personally and professionally with a budget for work-related trips and co-working.

  • Health Coverage: Prioritize your well-being with comprehensive health and dental insurance plans.
