Overview of the Product Manager, Alternative Investments

The Product Manager, Alternative Investments serves as the product and subject matter expert for the firm's retail alternative investment solutions within the Pooled Asset Solutions team. This role is responsible for defining product capabilities, performing detailed business and technical analysis, and delivering clear functional requirements that support scalable back-office solutions for broker-dealers, retirement recordkeepers, and asset managers. The ideal candidate is comfortable working hands-on in an Agile environment, partnering closely with engineering and clients to translate complex operational workflows into high-quality software solutions while advancing the firm's product and partnership strategy.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Product Manager, Alternative Investments

  • Monitor and assess evolving needs in the alternative investment space to identify new and evolving opportunities for current and future products.
  • Define product vision and contribute to the BetaNXT Alternative Investments roadmap, support system development and remediation initiatives to ensure process improvement.
  • Design and document product solutions, including BRDs, use cases, workflows, and gap analyses. 
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in retail alternative investments, including an understanding of the various industry partners (InvestCloud Private Markets Network, Corastone, SS&C AltServ, CAIS, DTCC AIP) with which BetaNXT integrates.
  • Work closely with development teams in an agile environment to drive high-quality, iterative delivery of features to production.
  • Drive business testing and validation of use cases; support the QA process through to product releases.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships, manage client-specific change requests, and support Client Services on complex alternative investment issues.
  • Assist in product feature definition for sales and marketing, work with the Project Management Office to track milestones, and manage delivery expectations.

Skills and Experience of the Product Manager, Alternative Investments

  • Minimum of 8 to 12 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • Prior experience at or supporting firms providing alternative investments to broker-dealers, custodians, or wealth managers. Candidates with experience in mutual funds are also encouraged to apply.
  • Extensive knowledge of retail alternative investment products, operations, and distribution workflows, including private equity, private credit, hedge funds, non-traded REITs, and interval funds, and the industry ecosystem for these products (e.g., DTCC AIP, InvestCloud Private Markets Network, CAIS, SS&C AltServ).
  • Solid understanding of product lifecycle management and agile methodologies
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to work independently and structure complex problems clearly.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint), Jira, Confluence

 Compensation:

  • We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and market location including full benefits offering and PTO. Minimum salary of $125,000 plus bonus opportunities and other incentives.
