BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer with a data driven background in support of Combat Mission Systems, based out of York, Pennsylvania. This is a remote opportunity. While we prefer candidates located on the East Coast, where the majority of our suppliers are based, we are also open to considering candidates in California and Arizona, as we have a smaller number of suppliers in these regions.
In this role as a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, you will investigate, evaluate, and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) conducts capability assessments that verify supplier qualifications, travels (driving, flying) up to 50% to assigned suppliers, and leads multiple projects to completion. This role is a self-starter, problem solver who utilizes analytical skills to find innovative solutions to quality-related issues. A strong communicator, you will ensure suppliers understand requirements and expectations, make progress reports, and present findings. You will utilize supplier scorecards / metrics and analytical tools to quantify performance levels of individual suppliers and work with suppliers to develop improvement plans to achieve 100% quality performance.
  • Evaluate the impact of nonconforming product and assess suppliers' corrective actions;
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances;
  • Perform source inspection of product at supplier locations;
  • Perform and evaluate First Article Inspections per the requirements of AS9102 as well as train suppliers to meet BAE Systems' expectations;
  • Drive "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base;
  • Drive APQP and PPAP processes to aid supplier in delivering Quality Material on Time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Typically requires a Bachelors in an Engineering or Technical discipline with four (4) years related experience, or an Associates with six (6) years experience, or the overall equivalent;
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality System;
  • Strong manufacturing experience with preferred APQP and PPAP knowledge;
  • Auditing experience;
  • Proven problem solving - Root cause / corrective actions;
  • Knowledgeable with engineering drawings / GD&T;
  • Highly effective communication, collaborative, and interactive skills;
  • Must be a motivated self-starter;
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Office Suite, particularly with Excel, formulas, and pivot tables;
  • Must be able to support travel requirement of up to 50%.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related work experience;
  • Expert level proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Business Objects, power BI, OBIEE, TIPQA, and/or Oracle.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $88189 - $149922
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
