The Opportunity: As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will play a central role in supporting critical functions of our marketplace business and company financial operations. You will oversee numerous aspects of our tax compliance and reporting, ensure the completion of business-critical responsibilities, and design and implement solutions to new challenges. This role is part of a dynamic accounting environment and provides an exciting opportunity to expand your familiarity with different tax topics and collaborate across different departments in our company. The successful candidate can manage many responsibilities simultaneously, thinks critically to solve new challenges, and is a team player willing to help where needed.
How your role contributes to the success of Vivid Seats:
- Ensures compliance across numerous indirect tax jurisdictions and regimes.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for our indirect tax function with outside tax specialists.
- Monitors and maintains our sales tax compliance software Vertex.
- Research and analyze complex indirect tax issues.
- Monitors state and local sales and income tax developments.
- Works with the Director of Tax to review quarterly and annual income tax provision and compliance.
- Responds to sales and use tax and income tax notices.
- Works closely with colleagues to seamlessly integrate tax compliance into our business operations.
- Oversees the reconciliation of tax accounts and gathering of supporting data for use in internal and external audits.
- Develops complex solutions to changing tax regulations or evolving business needs.
- Conducts special tax research projects as needed.
How your role expectations will progress as a Senior Tax Accountant in the first 30, 90, and 180 days
30 Days In
- Complete new hire orientation, gaining the resources you need to be successful.Gain a strong understanding of the accounting team structure, Vivid Seats business lines and our different types of revenue transactions.
- Review our tax compliance calendar and understand the most critical components for satisfying our obligations.
- Establish connections with our outside compliance and advisory specialists.
90 Days In
- Understand our monthly and quarterly indirect tax filing process, including data gathering, preparation, review and filing.
- Familiarize yourself with the crucial deadlines and requirements for our quarterly tax provision calculations and support that time-sensitive process.Begin developing mastery of our key tax reporting systems, particularly Vertex, our indirect tax engine.
- Build, maintain, and leverage internal and external relationships to achieve progress and advance objectives across key company initiatives.
180 Days In
- Oversee specific aspects of our monthly and quarterly indirect tax filing process, while working closely with others.
- Change and improve existing processes to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Work with the Director of Tax on quarter and year end income tax compliance and provisions.
- Serve as a trusted tax resource for accounting team members and others throughout Vivid Seats.
What You’ll Bring:
- 2+ years of accounting experience, with exposure to indirect tax compliance and multi-state issues
- Thorough understanding of tax compliance cycles, as well as general accounting principles; CPA or Masters in Accounting preferred
- Phenomenal attention to detail and obsession with accuracy
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and experience with large data sets and advanced functions
- Intrinsic desire to complete challenging tasks and take on new responsibilities
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously

The typical starting salary within the full salary range for this position can very. Factors which may affect starting salary include geographic market, relevant skills/experience, education, and other qualifications.
Salary Range: $85,000-$115,000
