Omniscient Digital is an organic growth agency that partners with ambitious B2B SaaS companies like SAP, Adobe, Loom, and Hotjar to turn SEO and content into growth engines.
About this role
Omniscient Digital is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Technical SEO Specialist to join our team as a 20-hour-per-week contractor. This is a remote position focused on executing technical SEO work across our client portfolio - from audits and migrations to monitoring and troubleshooting.
You'll diagnose technical issues, implement solutions that scale, and work directly with engineering teams to ship fixes that drive measurable business impact. You'll collaborate with our growth strategists and full-time team while maintaining autonomy over your schedule and workflow.
If you're a detail-oriented technical SEO professional who thrives on solving complex problems and can work independently in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you. The application code is OMNI2025.
This is a contractor position requiring approximately 20 hours per week. You must be based within the Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones for overlap with team and client schedules.
Please note: We do not work with contractors who subcontract their work.
Responsibilities
Execute technical SEO audits across multiple client accounts. You'll conduct comprehensive site health audits, identify crawl and indexation issues, diagnose rendering problems, and provide clear, actionable recommendations that engineering teams can implement.
Support migrations and technical implementations. You'll assist with CMS migrations, domain consolidations, and JavaScript framework launches. This includes building redirect maps, QA'ing changes pre- and post-launch, and ensuring nothing breaks in production.
Build automation and monitoring systems. You'll create monitoring systems using Google Sheets, Apps Script, Python, or other tools to surface issues automatically, reduce manual work, and alert teams to problems before they impact traffic.
Collaborate directly with client engineering teams. You'll write clear technical tickets, join implementation calls when needed, translate SEO requirements into technical specifications, and follow through until work is shipped and verified.
Troubleshoot technical issues with data. When problems arise - traffic drops, indexation issues, Core Web Vitals degradation - you'll investigate, pull relevant data, form hypotheses, test solutions, and communicate findings with clear before/after metrics.
Document processes and contribute to team efficiency. You'll help refine how we deliver technical SEO at scale by documenting workflows, suggesting improvements, and sharing learnings with the team.
Meet project deadlines consistently. You'll manage your own time effectively, prioritize high-impact work, and deliver quality results within agreed timelines (typically ranging from same-day turnarounds to week-long projects depending on scope).
Communicate proactively with the Director of Organic Growth Strategy. You'll keep communication clear and timely around project updates, blockers, and priorities.
Who you are
You have 4+ years of technical SEO experience, ideally in agency environments managing multiple clients with different platforms and constraints.
You're execution-focused and self-directed. You can manage your own workload, prioritize effectively without constant oversight, and deliver high-quality work independently.
You understand modern web development and JavaScript frameworks. You're comfortable using Chrome DevTools, can debug rendering issues, and understand how React-based frameworks (Next.js, Gatsby) serve content to search engines.
You can read and modify HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and regex. You work with large datasets regularly and know how to manipulate them efficiently in Google Sheets or similar tools.
You automate repetitive tasks. You're proficient in Google Sheets (including Apps Script) and comfortable using Python or similar tools to build systems that save time and improve efficiency.
You've worked on migrations for sites with thousands of pages. You understand the stakes involved in getting redirects right and know how to QA your work so nothing breaks.
You're experienced with modern B2B SaaS tech stacks: headless CMSs (Contentful, Sanity, Webflow), and standard SEO tools (Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, GSC, GA4).
You communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You focus on business impact, not just technical problems.
You're detail-oriented and quality-driven. You catch errors before they become issues and ensure every deliverable meets high standards.
You're deadline-conscious and reliable. You communicate proactively if priorities shift and consistently deliver work on schedule.
You're comfortable working asynchronously and can overlap with US business hours for key meetings and collaboration.
You're curious and proactive. You stay current with search engine changes, Core Web Vitals updates, and emerging technical SEO best practices.
Nice to have
Experience with GA4, Looker Studio, or building dashboards that connect technical improvements to business outcomes. Advanced analytics skills are valuable but not required for this role.
Portfolio requirement
Please be prepared to discuss 2–3 examples of technical SEO work you've executed that achieved measurable results. This could include migrations you've led, complex technical issues you've diagnosed and fixed, or automation systems you've built. Be specific about your role and the outcomes.
Benefits of working with us
You'll work on meaningful technical challenges with well-known B2B SaaS brands while maintaining flexibility in your schedule.
You'll develop expertise in modern frameworks, headless architectures, and emerging search technologies while working with a team that values innovation and experimentation.
You'll have autonomy over your work and the opportunity to shape how we deliver technical SEO at scale.
We're a 100% remote company so you can work from anywhere (within required time zones).
Ownership - there are opportunities to take on more responsibility and potentially convert to full-time based on business needs and mutual interest.
Compensation and terms:
Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience
Approximately 20 hours per week, flexible scheduling with core overlap hours for team collaboration
Contractor arrangement (1099 for US-based contractors)
