Compose.ly has partnered as an exclusive recruiter with a growing fintech solutions provider seeking a seasoned Senior Technical Writer for a general business audience to work alongside their in-house team and other internal stakeholders in a full-time capacity. Storytelling is central to successful documentation, and we’re looking for a writer who understands how a well-crafted narrative can clarify complex concepts to enhance the user experience.

- Have proven experience working with software engineering teams and other internal stakeholders to write superior user guides and how-tos that not only inform but also engage.
- Prioritize the user and their implementation journey, crafting content that contextualizes technical details in a way that connects to the bigger picture.
- Excel at explaining complex technical information in clear and relatable ways, helping non-developers and business users quickly understand and succeed.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of technical concepts and the ability to simplify them for diverse audiences.
- Are detail-oriented and deadline-driven, consistently delivering high-quality work and proactively seeking out the answers you need.
- Communicate and collaborate professionally and efficiently with a geographically distributed team.
- Keep pace with product development teams, using style guidance to produce industry-leading user guides, how-tos, and programming content that flows logically and tells a cohesive story.
- Collaborate closely with product engineering, product management, integration teams, and other internal stakeholders to create user-centric technical documentation for business audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (ideally in English, technical communications, computer science, or a similar field)
- 3+ years of experience as a technical writer for business or developer audiences at an Agile software company
- Proven experience writing detailed, accessible, and user-focused documentation in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional ability to grasp and communicate interrelationships between topics, presenting information hierarchically in a logical, meaningful, and consistent manner
- A business-friendly, user-focused perspective backed by experience and technical accuracy
- Proficiency in Markdown or another markup language, like HTML, and Swagger
- Knowledge of one or more programming languages (Java, Go, Python, TypeScript) and OpenAPI
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple focus areas and tasks while maintaining a high-velocity and high-quality output
- Commitment to adhering to documented standards and styles
- Enthusiasm for cross-functional collaboration with people at all levels of an organization
- Ability to work in US time zones (ideally Central Standard Time)
- A strong writing portfolio demonstrating some or all of these skills
- An advanced degree in a related discipline
