The Role
MarketAxess is looking for an additional member of its trading applications team, the Senior Trading System Engineer will serve as an experienced member of the team and will be responsible for hands-on and cutting-edge Java development.
How You'll Help Take Us There
- Design and develop major new functionality for MarketAxess trading application
- Author and edit documentation, present on technical topics
- Contribute to software design, code reviews, technical meetings
- Interact with the business helping to define and enhance the system
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience writing trading platforms including order management systems, order gateways, and market data systems
- 1+ years of development experience on a sequencer-based system
- Deep knowledge of Java 17+ and preferably Java 21+
- Still devoting 75% of your time to hands on development
- Able to design and deliver long-term sustainable and product-focused software
- Have broad areas of interest within technology and the trading business and keep up with current software engineering trends
- A team player that can articulate technical viewpoints and engage in healthy debate with others
- Strong attention to detail in both written and verbal communication.
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $175,000 USD to $250,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity, and other benefit programs.
