We’re seeking a Senior Underwriting Manager to oversee reinsurance operations and lead the placement of reinsurance for the division’s managed pools as well as other self-insured clients. 

Your Impact:

  • Prepare and present proposals for reinsurance placements including claims analysis, costs, terms, and conditions of coverage

  • Negotiate insurance and reinsurance placements

  • Maintain current in-depth knowledge of the reinsurance marketplace including industry activity and trends, state issues and regulations and market developments

  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients

  • Serve as primary contact for any carrier underwriting and claim audits

  • Work with all functional areas of the company including claims, accounting, underwriting and marketing to support company objectives

  • Understand and manage current policy administration procedures for compliance with reinsurance treaties and governmental regulations

  • Lead in the strategic analysis of the marketplace to identify competitive movements and new business opportunities

  • Analyze the quality and quantity of risks underwritten and prepare reports for management review

  • Oversee all internal reinsurance operations processes and procedures

Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • 10+ years’ experience in P&C reinsurance operations/sales/underwriting

  • College degree (preferred)

  • Technical knowledge of reinsurance markets, reinsurance placement and wording; understanding of coverage wording and underwriting

  • Ability to perform effectively in a technical leadership position; ability to utilize resources to effectively address issues and operational challenges

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills

  • Strong analytical, math and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including high level Excel experience

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Pay Range:

$109,400 - $200,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for this role.
