Senior WordPress Developer (Remote)

About PeoplePartners
  • At PeoplePartners, great careers don’t have to mean choosing between meaningful work and a life outside it.
  • We’re a Great Place to Work certified company with a people-first culture built around trust, growth, and giving talented people the opportunity to do work they’re proud of. You’ll collaborate with Australian clients and global teams, gain valuable international exposure, and keep developing your skills while working from home.
  • If you want challenging work, genuine ownership, global exposure, and room to grow, you’ll find plenty of it here.
Role Overview
  • Love WordPress, but get frustrated when “development” means installing another plugin and hoping for the best? This could be your kind of role.
  • As our Senior WordPress Developer, you’ll work with one of our Australian clients and take ownership of a large portfolio of WordPress websites across multiple brands—including complex sites with 500+ pages.
  • This is WordPress well beyond the basics. You’ll work across custom PHP, Elementor, WooCommerce, performance, SEO, structured data, integrations, security, and infrastructure, solving the technical problems that keep large websites performing at their best.
  • You’ll be trusted to investigate root causes, make sound technical decisions, and continuously improve the sites you manage. Because sometimes the answer is a plugin. And sometimes the answer is knowing enough not to install one.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain WordPress websites across multiple brands.
  • Manage complex WordPress websites with 500+ pages.
  • Build responsive pages and functionality using Elementor.
  • Develop custom WordPress themes, child themes, and plugins using PHP.
  • Configure and customize WooCommerce.
  • Manage payment gateways, checkout processes, and WooCommerce integrations.
  • Implement schema and structured data.
  • Troubleshoot technical website issues and identify root causes.
  • Improve website performance, page speed, reliability, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Support website security, hosting, CDN, and infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain API and third-party integrations.
  • Support technical SEO requirements and website optimization.
  • Manage multiple development projects and competing priorities.
  • Collaborate with SEO, content, marketing, design, and executive stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Communicate development progress, priorities, and technical considerations clearly.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional WordPress/web development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with WordPress.
  • Strong PHP development skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Elementor.
  • Strong HTML/CSS skills.
  • Experience with JavaScript/jQuery.
  • Hands-on experience with WooCommerce.
  • Experience developing custom WordPress themes, child themes, and plugins.
  • Experience with GA4.
  • Experience with Google Search Console.
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager.
  • Experience implementing schema and structured data.
  • Knowledge of Core Web Vitals and website performance optimization.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex WordPress issues.
  • Understanding of website security, hosting, CDN, and infrastructure.
  • Experience working with APIs and third-party integrations.
  • Understanding of responsive, accessible, SEO-friendly, and conversion-focused web development.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
  • Strong communication skills when working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing large WordPress websites with 500+ pages.
  • Experience working with high-traffic WordPress websites.
  • Experience working in agency or multi-site environments.
  • Experience managing websites across multiple brands.
  • Experience collaborating with Australian-based SEO, content, marketing, design, and executive stakeholders.
Why Join PeoplePartners
