About the Role
Complex is looking for a curious, detail-oriented Social Media Analytics Intern to join our Social team. This role will support how we organize, analyze, and learn from social media performance data, helping ensure our teams have access to accurate, actionable information that can inform content and platform strategy.

Working alongside Social leadership, the intern will gain hands-on experience with social analytics tools, data management, reporting, and workflow automation. You'll have the opportunity to work with large-scale social datasets, contribute to projects that improve how we measure performance, and help translate data into insights that support business and editorial decision-making.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in social media analytics, marketing analytics, audience insights, or data operations who wants experience applying analytical thinking to real-world social media challenges.

This is a remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the United States. The intern will be expected to work approximately 20 hours per week in a fully remote environment. The anticipated duration of the internship is October 2026 through March 2027.

What You'll Do

  • Support the organization, validation, and quality assurance of social media performance data across platforms.
  • Assist with maintaining consistent data classifications and measurement frameworks used for social reporting and analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, consistency, and usability.
  • Help build, test, and optimize automated workflows that improve the efficiency and scalability of social data management.
  • Conduct quality assurance to evaluate the accuracy of automated processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support recurring and ad hoc social performance reporting.
  • Pull, organize, and analyze social data to help answer questions about content, platform, and audience performance.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies within social performance data.
  • Help translate analytical findings into clear takeaways, visualizations, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with members of the Social team on projects that improve how social performance is measured and understood.

Who You Are

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Analytics, Business, Data Science, Communications, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with large datasets; Analytical and structured approach to problem-solving; Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Curiosity about social media, digital content, audience behavior, and performance measurement; Familiarity with major social platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube; Familiarity with social analytics tools including Emplifi, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, native platform analytics, etc
  • Interest in automation, AI, or emerging applications of technology within marketing and analytics.
  • Experience with Excel or Google Sheets and familiarity with functions such as formulas, filters, and pivot tables.
  • Ability to identify patterns and inconsistencies and investigate potential causes.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a fast-paced team.
