Job Description  

The Daily Beast is seeking a data-savvy, motivated and creative social media intern. The internship requires collaborating across editorial teams to grow the reach and impact of our journalism on a range of platforms. Applicants should have a strong interest in politics, entertainment and breaking news—and, of course, a strong social game. This is a full-time, hourly position for an initial three-month internship and the potential to become a full-time Social Media Associate following the internship period.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Write captivating and timely social media posts for breaking news and articles on topics across all Daily Beast verticals.
• Adapt to a changing and emerging social media environment with posts on Facebook, X, Threads, Instagram, BlueSky, Reddit and beyond.
• Send push alert notifications for breaking and feature stories.
• Monitor traffic and growth using data tools including Parsely, SocialFlow and others.
• Pitch key stories to syndication partners and editors.
• Grow new and diverse audiences.

Qualifications: 

• Strong communication, editorial and analytical skills.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced news environment—taking initiative and receiving constructive feedback.
• Excellent news judgment and a nose for social trends.
• Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Familiarity with Photoshop is desirable.
• Prior experience in digital media, marketing, or social media management is a bonus.

The pay range for this position is: $17.00 to $19.00 per hour. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and other factors. The Daily Beast is a globally recognized publication at IAC with our headquarters in New York City.
