We operate in a fast-paced, collaborative, and AI-forward environment where we continually experiment with new tools to scale our reach and deepen our audience’s financial literacy.

About the Role

Yahoo Finance is looking for an Associate Social Media Manager who can move fluidly between day-to-day programming, workflow management, and strategic planning for Yahoo Finance’s Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube (Shorts) channels.

As a player-coach, you will act as a direct supervisor for our social media coordinators and associates. You will assign tasks, manage schedules, and maintain editorial quality control while remaining hands-on with strategic programming. We are seeking an operational leader who views AI as an indispensable partner in content generation, data analysis, and workflow optimization—driving speed and innovation without sacrificing journalistic accuracy.

You’re the kind of person who:

  • Has a deep understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and visual storytelling trends.

  • Has an endless supply of creative concepts and focuses on making financial news accessible, entertaining, and highly useful to retail investors.

  • Thrives in a high-intensity newsroom environment, comfortably managing breaking news, planned editorial franchises, tentpole events, and sponsored content priorities.

  • Enjoys leading others both formally and informally, bringing a structured approach to workflow optimization and collaborative success.

  • Embraces an AI-forward mindset

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily task assignments, publishing schedules, and quality control of content across Yahoo Finance's primary social platforms.

  • Provide direct supervision, guidance, and constructive copy/framing feedback to junior social media editors.

  • Monitor platform performance and KPIs, utilizing data-driven insights to refine our audience acquisition and engagement strategies.

  • Partner with editors, anchors, and video producers to optimize editorial newsroom content for native social experiences.

  • Coordinate real-time coverage for major financial milestones, including corporate earnings releases, Fed interest rate decisions, and breaking macroeconomic news.

  • Collaborate with business development and advertising teams to ensure sponsored social campaigns are executed flawlessly, maintaining editorial standards while hitting client goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience managing social media platforms in a professional capacity; experience within business, financial, or hard news environments is strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience supervising direct reports or leading project teams in a creative or newsroom environment.

  • Proven track record of growing audiences and driving engagement across multiple visual platforms (specifically Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts).

  • Strong news judgment and analytical instincts, with an understanding of what moves markets and what everyday audiences need explained.

  • Exceptional editing and packaging skills: sharp headline writing, clean platform-native captions, and rigorous attention to detail.

  • Hands-on experience with social analytics dashboards (e.g., Sprout, Dash Hudson, Sprinklr, or native platform analytics) and a track record of translating metrics into execution plans.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule aligned with financial markets, which may include occasional early mornings, late evenings, or weekend earnings coverage.

  • Demonstrated experience using approved AI-powered design, writing, or scheduling utilities to streamline manual tasks and build creative assets at scale.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Embraces an AI-forward mindset, actively testing, integrating, and championing generative AI workflows to bypass manual bottlenecks and elevate team output.

  • Strong multimedia capabilities, including fluency in Adobe Premiere (or equivalent video editor) and Adobe Photoshop or Canva.

  • Deep interest in retail investing, personal finance trends, and online creator communities (e.g., personal finance creators, retail investor subcultures).

If you’re passionate about helping create the most trusted guide to wealth-building on social media and are excited by the challenge of growing Yahoo Finance’s audience, we’d love to meet you!
