Company Description

Depop is a peer-to-peer circular fashion marketplace where anyone can buy, sell and discover secondhand fashion. Our mission is simple: to make fashion circular by making secondhand as exciting and rewarding as buying new.
Founded in 2011, Depop’s diverse community has helped move resale into the mainstream, where buying secondhand is no longer an alternative, but how people of different ages now engage with fashion. Today, more than 56 million registered users come to Depop to find great value, express their own personal style and give clothes a longer life. We believe that everything you want already exists, and our role is to help people discover it.
Powered by a team of over 500 people, our company is headquartered in London, with offices in New York. In 2021, Depop became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etsy - the global marketplace for unique and creative goods - and continues to operate as a standalone company. For more information, visit www.depop.com
We aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, no matter who they are or where they’re from. Just as our platform connects people globally, we believe our workplace should reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We thrive on the power of different perspectives and experiences, knowing they drive innovation and bring us closer to our users.
We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer, providing employment opportunities without regard to age, ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy or maternity, marriage and civil partnership, or any other protected status. We’re continuously evolving our recruitment processes to ensure fairness and are open to accommodating any needs you might have.

The Role

Depop is looking for a Social Media + Video Community Editor to join our Social & Influencer Marketing team and help shape how Depop shows up across social in the US.

This is a highly creative, hands-on role for someone who thinks like a creator, understands the internet, and knows what makes content feel native to each platform. You’ll act as an in-house social content creator and editor, developing, shooting, editing, and publishing short-form content across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms.

You’ll also play an important role in how Depop participates in culture and engages with our community - spotting conversations, trends, creators, sellers, and moments where the brand can authentically show up.

The right person is deeply plugged into fashion, youth culture, creators, and the constantly evolving social landscape. You’re equally comfortable developing a repeatable content series, filming and editing a TikTok, jumping on a trend within hours, or finding the perfect comment for a cultural moment.

What You’ll Do

Create Social-First Content:

  • Develop, shoot, edit, and publish short-form video content for Depop across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other emerging platforms.

  • Act as an in-house content creator for the social team, taking ideas from concept through execution.

  • Create fast-turn, culturally relevant content around fashion, resale, creators, entertainment, and internet culture.

  • Develop recurring social franchises and formats that are distinctly Depop and can scale over time.

  • Translate larger brand and marketing moments into content that feels natural and relevant within social feeds.

  • Support social capture at events, activations, shoots, and cultural moments when needed.

  • Experiment with new formats, editing styles, platform features, and storytelling techniques to continuously evolve Depop’s social presence.

Help Shape Our Short-Form Video Strategy:

  • Partner with the Head of Social & Influencer Marketing to evolve Depop’s US TikTok and short-form video strategy.

  • Stay deeply immersed in platform behavior, emerging creators, trends, memes, sounds, formats, and cultural conversations.

  • Identify opportunities for Depop to participate in trends and conversations quickly and authentically.

  • Use performance insights to understand what is resonating and apply those learnings to future content.

  • Help identify opportunities to grow reach, engagement, followers, and conversation through organic social.

Build Community:

  • Help Depop become an active participant in social culture rather than simply publishing into it.

  • Lead proactive community engagement across priority social channels, including outbound commenting and participation in relevant cultural conversations.

  • Identify and surface great UGC, sellers, creators, listings, conversations, and community stories that can become social content.

  • Partner with Customer Experience and internal teams to distinguish brand/community engagement from customer service needs.

  • Help develop community engagement guidelines, guardrails, and best practices that allow Depop to participate in conversations quickly while maintaining a consistent brand voice.

  • Surface recurring community conversations, sentiment, and cultural insights back to the wider Social and Marketing teams.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience creating social-first content for a brand, publisher, agency, creator, or your own channels.

  • Strong short-form video skills, with the ability to concept, shoot, and edit content independently.

  • A portfolio or examples demonstrating a strong understanding of TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and social-native storytelling.

  • Excellent instincts for what makes content entertaining, relevant, shareable, and culturally resonant.

  • Deep knowledge of social platforms and how audiences behave differently across them.

  • A strong understanding of US youth culture, fashion, creators, entertainment, and internet culture.

  • Strong copywriting skills and the ability to adapt tone and voice to different platforms and moments.

  • Comfortable working quickly and responding to trends and opportunities in real time.

  • Able to balance planned editorial content with reactive and opportunistic storytelling.

  • Collaborative and comfortable working across Social, Influencer, Creative, Brand, PR, Customer Experience, and other teams.

  • Curious, proactive, resourceful, and excited to experiment.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you’ll help Depop build a faster, more distinctive, and more culturally relevant social presence. Success will look like:

  • A consistent pipeline of high-quality, social-native video produced in-house.

  • Stronger organic video performance, engagement, and audience growth across priority platforms.

  • The development of 2–3 recognizable, repeatable social franchises that audiences begin to associate with Depop.

  • Faster participation in relevant trends and cultural conversations — moving in hours rather than days.

  • A clear and scalable approach to proactive community engagement.

  • Stronger conversation, sentiment, and connection between Depop and its community.

  • More sellers, creators, community stories, and cultural insights being surfaced through Depop’s social channels.

About You

You’re someone who is probably already sending TikToks to your friends before they hit the group chat three days later. You understand that great social content doesn’t always require a big production - sometimes it requires the right idea, the right edit, and the ability to move quickly.

You have strong creative instincts, but you’re also interested in why something worked. You understand the difference between making content for social and adapting marketing content to social. You’re excited by fashion and personal style, but just as interested in the people, communities, and cultural conversations shaping them.

Most importantly, you understand that social is a conversation. You want to help make Depop a brand people don't just follow, but actively want to interact with.
