Schrödinger seeks a Software Development Intern for PyMOL to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods.
As a member of the PyMOL team, you'll help us maintain and improve our structural biology and molecular visualization tools. The ideal candidate is driven to write high-quality code and deliver an easy interface to empower researchers in academia and industry to visualize and assess complex biological data and accelerate scientific breakthroughs.
Who will love this job:

  • An undergraduate pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • A detailed-oriented programmer with a goal to write quality and well-documented software
  • A curious engineer who enjoys working in interdisciplinary environments


What you'll do:

  • Work on a project tailored towards the improvement of PyMOL's core functionalities and libraries
  • Maintain the integrity of our tools by working to improve our tool and testing suite
  • Potentially contribute to open-source projects which interface with PyMOL


What you should have:

  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python
  • At least two years of experience writing code
  • Basic understanding of protein structure or biochemistry

Estimated base salary: $7,500/mo . Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs.
