Backend Developer - Billing

We are seeking a Backend Developer to join our Billing Systems team. The successful candidate will work on developing mission-critical systems that have direct financial impact to the organization, This is an excellent opportunity to lead technical modernization efforts while working with complex billing logic, financial calculations, and enterprise-scale data processing.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engage with product architects, project managers, and business leaders to bridge the gap between business objectives and technical implementation, translating requirements and product vision into scalable architectural designs and high-quality, maintainable software solutions.
• Develop mission critical billing applications, APIs, transaction processing, scheduled billing operations, and integration with other core business systems.
• Enhancing our existing MetTel Billing applications and APIs infrastructure and migrating to .Net Core and/or other modern technology stacks.
• Develop comprehensive unit test suites and collaborate with QA and Data Analytics teams to establish advanced monitoring, observability, and validation frameworks that enable real-time billing operation performance tracking, automated revenue assurance validation, and continuous verification of business logic implementation accuracy.
• Architect and build data pipelines that consolidate billing data into centralized and unified data sources for advanced analytics, regulatory reporting, and real-time business intelligence.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years of experience architecting, designing and developing scalable software applications.
• Proficiency with ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core and C#
• Experienced with least one additional general purpose programming language, Python is preferred.
• Strong expertise in relational databases (preferably SQL Server) with advanced SQL skills including complex joins, stored procedures, and performance optimization
• Experience implementing REST APIs, API authentication, and system-to-system integrations
• Solid understanding of transaction management, database connection pooling, and concurrency control in high-volume applications
• Familiarity with background job processing, scheduled tasks, and batch processing frameworks

Additional Desired Qualifications:

• Past experience and knowledge of financial/billing system is a plus
• Experienced with rules engines, configuration management systems, and dynamic business logic implementation
• Experienced with container based development and deployment environments (ex. Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Experience working with workflow/ETL orchestration tools (ex. Dagster, Airflow, Netflix Conductor) is a plus.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Experience with Outsystems platform is a plus

*The salary range reflected is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay for this position is up to $100,000-175,000 annually. Pay varies by work location and may also depend on job -related knowledge, skills, experience and abilities of the successful candidate.
