EAA Integrations designs and delivers scalable automation solutions that seamlessly connect systems, streamline business processes, and unify data across the enterprise. We build reusable integration assets and robust APIs to accelerate developer productivity and empower teams to integrate complex systems with ease. As our Enterprise Integration team continues to grow, we are seeking a highly skilled Workato Developer / Workato Architect with deep hands-on experience in building, optimising, and governing automation at scale.
In this role, you will architect and develop advanced Workato recipes, frameworks, and connectors while ensuring best-in-class integration patterns and standards. You will partner closely with business Units and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business needs into reliable, scalable Workato solutions and ensure integrations operate flawlessly in production. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering (Integrations), you will play a key role within the Coinbase Enterprise Applications and Architecture Organization, driving automation strategy and elevating Workato platform excellence across the company.
What you’ll be doing (i.e., job duties)
- Design, automate, and maintain integrations across enterprise applications and platforms using Workato, custom connectors, and reusable automation frameworks.
- Architect scalable automation solutions and solve complex integration challenges by applying Workato best practices, patterns, and governance standards.
- Integrate Workato workflows with AI/LLM services (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or enterprise LLMs) to automate intelligent decision-making, content generation, or data enrichment.
- Design frameworks and reusable components for incorporating LLMs into business processes, ensuring secure, ethical, and scalable usage.
- Evaluate new AI/LLM capabilities and propose opportunities to embed them into enterprise automation strategies.
- Collaborate with business Units and engineering teams to gather, refine, and translate requirements into reliable Workato workflows and integrations.
- Build, optimize, and support ETL/ELT processes through Workato pipelines and related data integration tools to enable accurate business analytics.
- Identify and implement improvements to address architectural gaps, enhance performance, and reduce technical debt across automation and integration ecosystems.
- Participate in recipe reviews and architectural assessments to maintain quality, consistency, and adherence to platform standards.
- Manage Workato deployments, versioning, and configuration changes, and actively participate in release planning and execution.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance, platform guidance, and mentorship to team members and stakeholders using Workato.
- Stay current with automation, integration, AI/LLM advancements, and Workato platform enhancements to continuously strengthen our integration strategy.
- Actively contribute to team discussions and provide input on automation architecture, integration frameworks, and the Workato roadmap.
What we look for in you (i.e., job requirements)
- Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience in integration development, including designing, building, and supporting integrations across enterprise systems.
- At least 1–2 years of strong, practical experience with Workato, including recipe development, custom connectors, job frameworks, error handling patterns, and platform governance.
- Experience architecting automation solutions using Workato or similar iPaaS tools with an ability to define scalable patterns and reusable components.
- Solid understanding of APIs, webhooks, REST principles, and payload formats such as JSON and XML.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and experience supporting or building data pipelines.
- Exposure to AI/LLM technologies and the ability to integrate AI services into automation workflows.
- Understanding of responsible AI usage, including security, compliance, and data-handling considerations when working with LLMs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues end-to-end.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to haves:
- Knowledge of Salesforce Streaming Events, Platform Events, or Change Data Capture (CDC) and integrating them into Workato or related iPaaS solutions.
- Familiarity with integration governance, recipe optimization frameworks, or establishing automation best practices at scale.
- Exposure to enterprise systems such as NetSuite, Workday, Snowflake, or other SaaS/ERP platforms commonly integrated via Workato.
