Your Team's Impact 

The News Distribution team at FactSet builds and maintains the backend infrastructure that supports news search, alerting, and distribution. We own the client-facing news APIs and the services behind them, which are designed for high availability, high throughput, and low latency. The team is actively integrating generative AI and semantic search into our platform. As a Software Engineer 2, you will contribute to these systems and gain exposure to a broad range of backend engineering challenges at scale. This is a hybrid position based in New York, with 3 days per week onsite. 

 

What You'll Do 

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs that support news search, alerting, and distribution. 

  • Build and optimize data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and indexing large volumes of news content. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to maintain the reliability and performance of our services. 

  • Collaborate with the team to integrate generative AI and semantic search capabilities into existing systems. 

  • Write and maintain tests, documentation, and monitoring to support operational excellence. 

 

What We're Looking For 

 

Education 

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)  

Required Skills 

  • Experience programming with C++ or another OOP language (Java, C#, etc.)   

  • Desire to both design and implement reliable and superior software  

Desired Skills 

  • Thorough understanding of C/C++ generic programming skills, including STL, boost 

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl and Python 

  • Windows and Linux programming environments 

  • Working with and managing a large code base 

  • Programming in a multi-threaded, distributed environment

Salary is just one component of our compensation package and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, and certifications.    

The budgeted salary range for this position in the state of New York is $105,000.00 - 110,000.00.
