  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including product management, data science, and engineering, to deeply understand business needs and deliver impactful solutions.

  • Drive innovation by exploring and implementing new technologies and methodologies that keep Netflix at the forefront of data engineering.

  • Own the systems you build, from design to deployment and ongoing operations, ensuring high availability and operational excellence.

About You:

  • You are proficient in at least one major language on the JVM stack (Java or Scala), and you write clean, maintainable, and elegant code.

  • You have hands-on experience building distributed services (gRPC/REST) and are well-versed in building APIs, frameworks, and transport protocols.

  • You have experience with batch and real-time data processing technologies (e.g., Spark, Flink, Kafka, Iceberg).

  • You have expertise in building data platforms and data frameworks

  • You are passionate about data quality, system health, and observability, and you design systems with comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting.

  • You have a product mindset, are curious about the business, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.

  • You have a strong operational awareness and experience supporting 24x7, high-scale, multi-tenant systems.

  • You thrive in agile environments, embrace ambiguity, and adapt quickly to change.

  • You embody Netflix's culture of innovation, ownership, and candid feedback. You enjoy both independent work and collaborative problem solving.

  • You are committed to continuous learning and take pride in delivering solutions that have a lasting impact.
