About us

The rapid transition to electric vehicles (EVs) is the biggest change in transportation since the Model T. Flipturn is building the EV charging and energy platform for the next generation of sustainable transportation.

We're already working with public EV charging sites and the largest forward-thinking Fortune 500 EV fleets. The rapid growth in electrification means growing our team!

We're hiring for mid-level, senior, and staff software engineers for this position.

At Flipturn, you’ll:

  • Build a climate/sustainability-focused product, working on projects that directly impact real-life EV infrastructure

  • Collaborate with a team of extremely talented and mission-driven teammates (Stripe, Samsara, Google, MIT, UC Berkeley)

  • Work with modern technologies and best in class tools (ex: TypeScript, GraphQL, AWS, Cursor, Claude)

  • Build for the long term, backed by top VC firms CRV and Accel (Recent $11M Series A, growing revenue with many years of runway)

Impact in the EV and energy industry

By 2030, EVs will represent more than 60% of vehicles sold globally, with many millions of chargers being deployed every year, representing an enormous market opportunity. Flipturn is rapidly becoming the top choice for charging infrastructure in the US, Canada, and beyond.

Today, our software manages:

  • Private EV charging for multiple Fortune 500 national fleets

  • Public paid charging on highways and parking lots

  • Semi-private workplace and multi-family charging

Over the next 10 years, EV adoption, building and industrial electrification, and increased AI data center load will require significant new technologies to improve grid stability. Flipturn is at the forefront of this wave, developing cutting-edge load management algorithms, utility program integrations, and on-site battery and solar optimization.

The role

You'll be involved in building major features, getting feedback from customers, driving the vision of our EV charging platform, and setting the culture of our engineering team as we enter our growth phase. The functionality, user experience, speed, and reliability of our product is a top selling point, so your work will be critical to Flipturn's success.

As a software engineer at Flipturn, you will work on projects like:

  • Real-time monitoring tools for our customers to operate thousands of charging stations through one view

  • Utility grid integrations to dynamically manage power output of EV charging sites with 100+ chargers

  • Creating an industry-leading multi-modal payments experience for EV charging, combining in-person payment terminals, in-app payments, subscription billing, and more

We're looking for people who have:

  • 5+ years of experience building software products

  • Experience leading significant projects from inception to post-launch

  • Strong technical background in full-stack software development and system design

  • Experience working with users to get feedback and iterating on a product

  • Excitement about being part of a fast-paced, dynamic early stage startup

Benefits

  • Healthcare benefits. Top tier health, dental, and vision insurance coverage. 100% of employee premiums and 50% of dependent premiums are covered by us.

  • Equity benefits. All offers come with equity packages. Equity vests over four years, with a one year cliff.

  • NYC office in the Union Square area with lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Generous equipment and office furniture budget for all team members, including remote.

  • Quarterly team bonding weeks with the full team.

  • Unlimited time off with a culture of actually taking vacation.

  • Personal EV rental stipend to learn more about the EV charging experience.

  • 401(k) program.
