Solution Architect

POSITION SUMMARY

The Information Technology Services team at AAA enables business workflows using creative and pragmatic technology solutions. We are a software engineering group with a mission to develop applications critical to the creation, marketing, distribution, and reselling of HBO products and are a fundamental part of HBO’s innovation and success.

Realizing the mission requires a staff of highly motivated and technically flexible software professionals across a variety of disciplines such as architecture, development, and program management. We are looking for a highly skilled individual who has a proven track record and takes pride in bringing high-quality solutions quickly to market, enjoys learning and applying new technologies, and thrives in a dynamic engineering-oriented work environment. The applications we build are used by departments such as Business Affairs, Creative Services, Enterprises, and Program Strategy and Planning. This position is out of our New York City office.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· You will plan, initiate, and effect changes to the future-state architecture and technical stack of applications

· You will lead teams in designing and developing architecturally sound custom applications as well as in implementing and integrating with third-party software packages

· You will own and oversee documentation of technical design and analysis work

· You will partner with project managers and business analysts to understand requirements and evaluate and recommend strategic solutions

· You will mentor technical team members to enhance their skillset

REQUIREMENTS

· Successful applicants must have deep knowledge and hands-on experience in:

o Domain-driven design, UML, and design patterns

o Technologies such as JEE, Spring, Spring Cloud, Elasticsearch

o Implementing RESTful APIs and event driven architectures with cloud-native principles

o SQL and database concepts for RDBMS’ such as Oracle as well as NoSQL databases such as MongoDB

o Deploying applications on AWS

o Front-end frameworks such as AngularJS

o Development tools such as GIT, Maven, JUnit, Bamboo, and JIRA

· 4+ years of established track record of defining solutions for and implementing large-scale high-quality software applications

· Strong communication skills and an ability to interact with all levels of technical and non-technical personnel

· Drive to master emerging technologies and share experiences with team members

· Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills

· Solid foundation in troubleshooting application and data issues

· Ability to understand goals, strategies, and needs of the business as they relate to application development

· Ability to be a self-starter and to handle priorities across multiple projects

· Ability to fit into an agile development environment and create a positive influence

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent technical experience
